Tech Tips
When replacing the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly, transmission valve body assembly, solenoid valve (SL1, SL2, SL3, SL4), engine assembly or hybrid vehicle control ECU, perform the tasks as shown in the table below.
| Part Replaced | A/T Code Reset | A/T Code Registration | Drive Learning | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hybrid vehicle transmission assembly | ○ | Register compensation code | ○ | |

- | - | ○ | |
| Hybrid vehicle control ECU | When vehicle ECU compensation code cannot be read | - | Register compensation code | ○ |

RESET MEMORY
Note
When replacing either the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly perform "A/T Code Reset".
*1: After performing the confirmation driving pattern, if the shock during acceleration is large after calibrating the "A/T Code Reset", perform driving learning.
Tech Tips
The learning value will not be initialized (cleared) by only disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
When replacing the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly, perform drive learning after "A/T Code Reset" and "A/T Code Registration".
When replacing the engine assembly, perform drive learning after "A/T Code Reset".
Check that the shift position is in P, connect the GTS to the DLC3, turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.
Note
Do not start the engine.
Perform A/T Code Reset
Using the GTS, enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Utility / A/T Code Reset.
| Tester Display |
|---|
| A/T Code Reset |
According to the display on the GTS, initialize the learning value.
PERFORM ROAD TEST TO ALLOW HYBRID VEHICLE CONTROL ECU TO LEARN
Note
Take care when driving.
Do not suddenly accelerate or decelerate.
This test must be performed after checking and adjusting the engine.
Perform the test at the normal operating transmission fluid temperature 60 to 80°C (140 to 176°F).
After replacing either the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly, transmission valve body assembly, solenoid valve (SL1, SL2, SL3, SL4), hybrid vehicle control ECU or engine assembly, perform "Drive Learning".
Tech Tips
When replacing the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly, perform drive learning after "A/T Code Reset" and "A/T Code Registration".
When either the transmission valve body assembly or shift solenoid valve (SL1, SL2, SL3, SL4) has been replaced, perform drive learning.
When replacing the hybrid vehicle control ECU, perform drive learning after "A/T Code Registration".
When replacing the engine assembly, perform drive learning after "A/T Code Reset"
Perform driving learning according to the table below.
| Replaced Parts | Road Test |

Perform pattern 1 and pattern 2
Pattern 1:
Pattern 2: |
Tech Tips
*2: Use the correct timing when transitioning from acceleration learning to deceleration learning.
*3: Acceleration learning accelerates to the maximum possible speed with the accelerator pedal in a fixed position, whereas deceleration learning decelerates with the brake pedal in a fixed position.
*4: Acceleration learning is divided into two patterns: 15 to 20% and 25 to 35% patterns. Deceleration learning is also divided into two patterns: Slow braking with the brake on and off accordingly.
*5: With the shift lever in D, accelerate to the maximum possible speed, move the shift lever to M, then shift down to M2 with the accelerator and brake pedals released.
*6: The M position moves up and down according to the vehicle speed.
Repeat drive learning until gear change shock and engine revving subside.
Note
When repeating drive learning, always begin a new run with the vehicle stopped.
