      • The headlights of an oncoming vehicle or sunlight is shining directly on the object recognition camera.

      • Strong reflection light from sign, road surface or other vehicles is shining directly on the object recognition camera.

      • The sign is dirty, faded or tilted, or the contrast of an electronic sign is poor.

      • The sign is too small.

      • The contrast of an electronic sign is poor.

      • The brightness of the whole sign is not equal such as in the shade.

      • The traffic conditions are misjudged.

      • When the ambient light is not enough or the vehicle is being driven where a sudden change in brightness occurs

    2. The system may incorrectly recognize traffic signs under the following conditions:

      • A sign is on an adjacent lane or side road, or immediately after traffic lanes merge or diverge.

      • A sticker or graphic is on the rear of a preceding vehicle.

      • An object which is not a traffic sign is similar in appearance.

  2. PRECAUTION FOR TROUBLESHOOTING

    1. When a connector is damaged or loose or a part is improperly installed, the system may only temporarily return to normal if the part is removed and installed without thorough diagnosis and repair.

    2. The road sign assist system may be affected by malfunctions in other systems. Check for DTCs in other systems and, if present, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

  3. PRECAUTION FOR REPLACING OBJECT RECOGNITION CAMERA

    1. If the object recognition camera has been replaced with a new one or the windshield glass has been removed and installed, it is necessary to perform Object Recognition Camera Learning.

    2. When replacing the object recognition camera, replace it with a new one. If a object recognition camera which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in the object recognition camera will not match the information from the vehicle and a DTC may be stored.

    3. When replacing the object recognition camera, do not damage the camera lens or allow it to become contaminated with foreign matter.

    4. Do not reuse a object recognition camera that has been dropped or subjected to a strong impact.

  4. PRECAUTION FOR REPLACING WINDSHIELD GLASS

    1. When replacing the windshield glass of a vehicle equipped with a object recognition camera, make sure to use a Lexus genuine part. If a non-Lexus genuine part is used, the object recognition camera may not be able to be installed due to a missing bracket or the road sign assist system may not operate properly due to a difference in the transmissivity or black ceramic border.

    2. Do not attach stickers, including transparent stickers, or other items to the outer side of the windshield glass within the area in front of the object recognition camera.
