  1. CHECK VEHICLE APPROACHING SPEAKER CONTROLLER

    B000PHBE18

    1. Disconnect the X51 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Terminal No. (Symbol) Wiring Color Terminal Description Condition Specified Condition
X51-1 (IG) - Body ground B - Body ground IG power supply Power switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
Power switch off Below 1 V

If the result is not as specified, there may be a malfunction in the wire harness.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Terminal No. (Symbol) Wiring Color Terminal Description Condition Specified Condition
      X51-7 (GND) - Body ground W-B - Body ground Ground Always Below 1 Ω

If the result is not as specified, there may be a malfunction in the wire harness.

    4. Reconnect the X51 vehicle approaching speaker controller connector.

    5. Measure the voltage and check for pulses according to the value(s) in the table below.

Terminal No. (Symbol) Wiring Color Terminal Description Condition Specified Condition
X51-2 (STP) - X51-7 (GND) W - W-B Stop light signal input Power switch off, brake pedal depressed 8 V or higher
Power switch off, brake pedal released Below 1 V
X51-3 (SP+) - X51-8 (SP-) G - SB Vehicle approaching speaker output Vehicle approaching speaker operating

A waveform synchronized with the sound is output.

      (See Waveform 1)

X51-5 (SW) - X51-7 (GND) B - W-B Vehicle approaching speaker switch signal input Power switch on (IG), vehicle approaching speaker switch not pressed Below 1 V
Power switch on (IG), vehicle approaching speaker switch pressed 6 V or higher
X51-6 (SPD) - X51-7 (GND) P - W-B Speed signal input Power switch on (IG), wheel being rotated

      Pulse generation

      (See Waveform 2)

X51-9 (PRST) - X51-7 (GND) P - W-B SIL communication signal Power switch on (IG), during transmission

      Pulse generation

      (See Waveform 3)

X51-10 (IND) - X51-7 (GND) V - W-B Vehicle proximity notification off indicator light signal Power switch on (IG), vehicle proximity notification off indicator light on Below 2.8 V
Power switch on (IG), vehicle proximity notification off indicator light off 11 to 14 V
      X51-11 (KOK) - X51-7 (GND) R - W-B Permission signal Power switch on (READY), shift state park (P) Below 2.3 V
Power switch on (READY), engine stopped and shift state not park (P) 8 V or higher

If the result is not as specified, there is a problem in the vehicle approaching speaker controller or wire harness.

        Waveform 1

        Item Condition
        Tool setting 1 V/DIV., 200 ms./DIV.
Vehicle condition Vehicle approaching speaker operating
      2. B000RAAN03

        Waveform 2

        Item Condition
        Tool setting 5 V/DIV., 20 ms./DIV.
Vehicle condition Power switch on (IG), wheel being rotated

        Tech Tips

When the system is functioning normally, one wheel revolution generates 4 pulses. As the vehicle speed increases, the width indicated by (A) in the illustration narrows.
