ROOF WINDOW FIX GLASS INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    Make sure to use Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive (High Modulus Type) or equivalent.

  2. CLEAN MOON ROOF GLASS ASSEMBLY

      When reusing the moon roof glass assembly:


      1. Using a scraper, remove any remaining adhesive dam and adhesive residue from the moon roof glass assembly.

        Note

        Be careful not to damage the moon roof glass assembly.

    2. Clean the outer circumference of the moon roof glass assembly with a non-residue solvent.

      Note


      • Do not touch the moon roof glass assembly surface after cleaning it.

      • Even if using a new moon roof glass assembly, clean the moon roof glass assembly with a non-residue solvent.

  3. INSTALL MOON ROOF MOULDING


    1. Apply the glass primer to the moon roof moulding installation surface of the moon roof glass assembly.

      Note

      Do not apply too much primer.

      Apply the glass primer to a new moon roof moulding as shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Do not apply too much primer.

      • Do not apply the glass primer to the surface of the moon roof moulding.

      Apply adhesive to the moulding as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

    4. Remove the peeling paper from a new moon roof moulding.

      Tech Tips

      After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

    5. Install the moon roof moulding to the moon roof glass assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

    6. Using a gasket scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

      Note

      Make sure that no adhesive remains on the surface of the moon roof moulding and moon roof glass assembly.

    7. Hold the moon roof glass assembly until the applied adhesive becomes hard.

      35°C (95°F) 1 hour and 30 minutes
      20°C (68°F) 5 hours
      5°C (41°F) 24 hours

  4. INSTALL ROOF WINDOW CLIP

      Mark the roof window clip installation area on the moon roof glass assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Apply the glass primer to the roof window clip installation surface of the moon roof glass assembly.

      Note

      Do not apply too much primer.

    3. Remove the peeling paper from a new roof window clip.

      Tech Tips

      Note


      • Do not mistake the installation direction of the roof window clip.

      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

  5. INSTALL LOWER ROOF WINDOW CLIP

      Mark the lower roof window clip installation area on the moon roof glass assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Apply the glass primer to the lower roof window clip installation surface of the moon roof glass assembly.

      Note

      Do not apply too much primer.

    3. Remove the peeling paper from a new lower roof window clip.

      Align the lower roof window clip with the marking on the moon roof glass assembly and install it.

      Note


      • Do not mistake the installation direction of the lower roof window clip.

      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

  6. INSTALL MOON ROOF GLASS ASSEMBLY


    1. Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.

        Using a knife, cut away excess adhesive on the contact surface of the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

        Standard Dimension
        Area Dimension
        a 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) to 3.0 mm (0.118in.)

        Note

        Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

        Tech Tips

        Leave approximately 1.0 mm (0.0394 in.) of adhesive on the vehicle body.

      2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with a piece of cloth saturated with non-residue solvent.

        Tech Tips

        Even if all of the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.

    2. Using a brush or sponge, coat the body primer to the exposed part of the vehicle body.

      Note


      • Do not apply too much primer.

      • Do not apply primer to the adhesive.

      • When applying the primer, take care of the seams of the panel and spot welds.

    3. Using a brush or sponge, coat the glass primer as shown in the illustration.

    5. Align with the position on the moon roof glass assembly that has adhesive left over and apply adhesive to the glass as shown in the illustration.

    6. Install the moon roof glass assembly to the vehicle body.


      1. Install the suction cups to the moon roof glass assembly.

      2. Using suction cups, align the center of the roof window clip of the front side of the moon roof glass assembly with the center of the hole on the body side.

      3. Align the center of the lower roof window clip of the rear side of the moon roof glass assembly with the center of the hole on the body side and install the moon roof glass assembly.

        Note

        Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      4. Press it in gently along the rim.

        Tech Tips

        Press the glass with force of 98 N (10 kgf, 22.0 lbf) or more.

        Install the nut.

        Note

        If the removed nut is the same shape as that shown in the illustration, replace it the supplied replacement part.

        5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

        Tech Tips

        Use the same procedure to remove the nut on the other side.

      6. Using a gasket scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

      7. Hold the moon roof glass assembly using protective tape until the applied adhesive becomes hard.

        Note

        Do not drive the vehicle for the time described in the table below.

  7. CHECK FOR LEAK AND REPAIR


    1. Conduct a leak test after the adhesive has completely hardened.

    2. Seal any leaks with auto glass sealer.

    3. Remove the protective tape and match mark.

  13. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL
