ROOF WINDOW FIX GLASS REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed or replaced during the moon roof glass assembly assembly removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing.

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

    Tech Tips

    When the cable is disconnected/reconnected to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, systems temporarily stop operating. However, each system has a function that completes learning the first time the system is used.

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  9. REMOVE MOON ROOF GLASS ASSEMBLY

      B004CG0 Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.

    2. Using a knife, cut off the moon roof moulding as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      Do not damage the moon roof glass assembly, windshield outside moulding and vehicle body.

      Remove the nut.

      Tech Tips


      • Use the same procedure to remove the nut on the other side.

        If the removed nut is the same shape as that shown in the illustration, replace it the supplied replacement part.

    4. Install the suction cups to the moon roof glass assembly.

      Using protective tape, install the windshield outside moulding to the windshield glass while it is lifted up as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      When applying the protective tape, do not damage the windshield outside moulding.

      From the interior, insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and glass as shown in the illustration.

    7. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.

      Note

      When separating the glass from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle paint or interior/exterior ornaments.

    8. Cut through the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the glass.

      Note

      Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when cutting through the adhesive.

    9. Using suction cups, remove the moon roof glass assembly.

      Note


      • Perform this procedure with 2 or more people, as the part is a heavy component.

      • Be careful not to drop the moon roof glass assembly.

  10. REMOVE ROOF WINDOW CLIP


    1. When reusing the moon roof glass assembly:


      1. Using a gasket scraper, remove the roof window clip from the moon roof glass assembly.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the moon roof glass assembly.

        • Be sure to replace the roof window clip with a new one.

  11. REMOVE LOWER ROOF WINDOW CLIP


    1. When reusing the moon roof glass assembly:


      1. Using a gasket scraper, remove the lower roof window clip from the moon roof glass assembly.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the moon roof glass assembly.

        • Be sure to replace the lower roof window clip with a new one.

  12. REMOVE MOON ROOF MOULDING


    1. When reusing the moon roof glass assembly:


      1. Using a gasket scraper, remove the moon roof moulding from the moon roof glass assembly.

        Note


        • Be careful not to damage the moon roof glass assembly.

        • Be sure to replace the moon roof moulding with a new one.
