CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing.
Note
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.
Tech Tips
When the cable is disconnected/reconnected to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal, systems temporarily stop operating. However, each system has a function that completes learning the first time the system is used.
REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Note
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

Note
The back window glass may fall while performing this procedure. Therefore, use suction cups to hold the back window glass from the outside of the vehicle.The back window glass may fall while performing this procedure. Be careful not to damage the back window glass when cutting as the back window spacers are installed to the back window glass.
Disconnect each connector.

Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.

Using a knife, cut off the upper outside back window moulding LH as shown in the illustration.
Note
Do not damage the back window glass or body panel.
If the body panel is damaged, perform rust-prevention treatment after removing the back window glass.
Tech Tips
Use the same procedure for both upper outside back window moulding RH.
When reusing the windshield glass:

Place matchmarks over the glass and vehicle body at the locations indicated in the illustration.
Install the suction cups to the windshield glass.

From the interior, insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and glass as shown in the illustration.
Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.
Note
When separating the glass from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle paint or interior/exterior ornaments.
Cut through the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the glass.(Leave back window glass spacer LH)
Note
When working near the back window glass connector, be careful not to damage it with the piano wire.
Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when cutting through the adhesive.
Using suction cups, remove the windshield glass.
Note
Do not drop the back window glass.
REMOVE NO. 1 REAR WINDOW WIRE

Detach the connector, remove the No. 1 rear window wire.
Note
Do not damage the back window glass.
REMOVE UPPER OUTSIDE BACK WINDOW MOULDING LH
When reusing the back window glass:

Using a gasket scraper, remove the upper outside back window moulding LH from the back window glass.
Note
Do not damage the back window glass.
Be sure to replace the upper outside back window moulding LH with a new one.
REMOVE UPPER OUTSIDE BACK WINDOW MOULDING RH
When reusing the back window glass:

Using a gasket scraper, remove the upper outside back window moulding RH from the back window glass.
Note
Do not damage the back window glass.
Be sure to replace the upper outside back window moulding RH with a new one.
REMOVE WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM
When reusing the back window glass:

Using a gasket scraper, remove the 8 window glass adhesive dams from the back window glass.
Note
Do not damage the back window glass.
Be sure to replace the window glass adhesive dam with a new one.

When reusing the back window glass:

Be sure to replace the light wire with a new one.

When reusing the back window glass:

Be sure to replace the back window glass spacer with a new one.
REMOVE NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER
When reusing the back window glass:

Using a gasket scraper, remove the No. 1 back window glass spacer from the back window glass.
Note
Do not damage the back window glass.
Be sure to replace the No. 1 back window glass spacer with a new one.
REMOVE NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS SPACER
When reusing the back window glass:

Using a gasket scraper, remove the No. 2 back window glass spacer from the back window glass.
Note
Do not damage the back window glass.
Be sure to replace the No. 2 back window glass spacer with a new one.
