SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM Front Passenger Side Seat Belt Warning Light Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

When the engine switch is on (IG), the airbag sensor assembly sends the front seat inner belt assembly (Front Passenger Seat) state to the combination meter assembly via CAN communication. The seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly illuminates, blinks or turns off in accordance with the parking brake state, shift lever position, vehicle speed, front passenger seat belt state and whether the front passenger seat is occupied.

Note


  • The seat belt warning system uses the CAN communication system. First, confirm that there are no malfunctions in the CAN communication system. Refer to How to Proceed with Troubleshooting.

  • When replacing the combination meter assembly, always replace it with a new one. If a combination meter assembly which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in it will not match the information from the vehicle and a DTC may be stored.

Tech Tips


  • The seat belt warning light on the combination meter assembly is used for both the driver seat and front passenger seat. Check that the operation of the seat belt warning light is normal first.

  • If the seat belt warning light does not operate for both the driver seat and front passenger seat, replace the combination meter assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (AIRBAG SYSTEM)


    1. Clear the DTCs.

      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Clear DTCs

    2. Check for DTCs.

      Click here


      Body Electrical > SRS Airbag > Trouble Codes
      OK
      DTCs are not output.

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION SWITCH)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Combination Meter / Data List.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY (FOR FRONT PASSENGER SEAT) - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND)


    1. for LHD


      1. Disconnect the X13 front seat inner belt assembly RH connector.

      2. Disconnect the P25 combination meter assembly connector.

      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        X13-3 (+) - P25-7 (PODS) Always Below 1 Ω
        X13-3 (+) or P25-7 (PODS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
        X13-4 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    2. for RHD


      1. Disconnect the x14 front seat inner belt assembly LH connector.

      2. Disconnect the P25 combination meter assembly connector.

      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        x14-4 (+) - P25-7 (PODS) Always Below 1 Ω
        x14-4 (+) or P25-7 (PODS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
