POP UP HOOD LIFTER(for Front Side) REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed or replaced during the pop up hood lifter assembly LH/RH removal/installation are shown below.

CAUTION:

If the hood release lever is pulled after the pop up hood lifter assembly is activated, the hood may rise more.

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:


    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

      Disconnect the clamp.

    2. Move the end of the hood lock control assembly in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration and detach it from the hood lock assembly.

  9. REMOVE POP UP HOOD LIFTER ASSEMBLY LH

    CAUTION:


    • When storing the pop up hood lifter assembly LH even temporarily, be sure to keep the extended section side facing upward.

    • If the pop up hood lifter assembly LH deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      Detach the 2 clamps.

      Disconnect pop up hood lifter assembly LH connector.

      Note

      When disconnecting pop up hood lifter assembly LH connector, take care not to damage the wire harness.


      1. Push down the housing lock and slide the CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

      2. Push the housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

        Note

        Do not push down the upper part of the CPA shown in the illustration when disconnecting the pop up hood lifter assembly LH connector.

      3. After disconnecting the connector, check that the position of the housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.

      Remove the 3 bolts.

      Move the pop up hood lifter assembly LH in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration direction (1) and detach the hook.

    7. Place your hand at the position shown in the illustration and move the pop up hood lifter assembly LH in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration direction (2), pull out the pop up hood lifter assembly LH.

      Note

      When pulling out the pop up hood lifter assembly LH, do not pull the wire harness.

  10. REMOVE POP UP HOOD LIFTER ASSEMBLY RH

    CAUTION:


    • When storing the horn button assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

    • If the pop up hood lifter assembly LH operates for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    3. Disconnect pop up hood lifter assembly RH connector.

      Note

      When disconnecting pop up hood lifter assembly RH connector, take care not to damage the wire harness.

        Push down the housing lock and slide the CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

      2. Push the housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

        Note

        Do not push down the upper part of the CPA shown in the illustration when disconnecting the pop up hood lifter assembly RH connector.

      3. After disconnecting the connector, check that the position of the housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.

      Move the pop up hood lifter assembly RH in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration direction (1) and detach the hook.

      Note

      When pulling out the pop up hood lifter assembly RH, do not pull the wire harness.

    6. Place your hand at the position shown in the illustration and move the pop up hood lifter assembly RH in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration direction (2), pull out the pop up hood lifter assembly RH and remove it.

      Disconnect the clamp.

    8. Move the end of the hood lock control assembly in the direction of the arrow shown in the illustration and remove it from the pop up hood lifter assembly RH.
