PARKING ASSIST MONITOR SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. GENERAL

    1. This system has a television camera assembly mounted on the luggage compartment door to display an image of the area behind the vehicle on the multi-display. The multi-display also shows a composite view consisting of the area behind the vehicle and parking guide lines to assist the driver in parking the vehicle by monitoring the area behind the vehicle.

    2. This system consists of the following components:

      1. Television camera assembly

      2. Radio receiver assembly

      3. Multi-display

      4. Steering sensor

      5. Hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly

      6. Main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU)

      7. No. 3 semiconductor power integration ECU

      8. Blind spot monitor sensor RH*1

      9. Clearance warning ECU assembly

      10. Front steering control ECU*2

        • *1: w/ Blind Spot Monitor System

        • *2: w/ Variable Gear Ratio Steering System

    3. This system is equipped with a self-diagnosis system, which is operated from a designated window that appears on the multi-display.

  2. FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS

    1. The television camera assembly controls the system by using information from the following components.

      Item Function
      Television Camera Assembly
      • Mounted on the luggage compartment door to transmit a composite image of the area behind the vehicle and guide lines calculated based on signals received from each ECU, to the multi-display.

      • Has a color video camera that uses a Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) and wide-angle lens.

      • Stops displaying the guide lines when an open signal is received for the luggage compartment door.

      • Performs overall control of the system by receiving signals from the sensor and ECUs.

      Multi-display
      • Receives video signals which contain a composite image of the area behind the vehicle taken with the television camera assembly and guide lines calculated based on signals received from each ECU.

      • Performs control of the system by receiving the reverse signal from the No. 3 Semiconductor Power Integration ECU.

      • Receives diagnostic mode video signals from the television camera assembly.

      • Displays "Back door is open. Do not use the rear view monitor when the back door is not completely closed." on the back camera position setting screen when the luggage compartment door is open.

Radio Receiver Assembly Transmits the setting information signal to the television camera assembly via CAN communication.
Steering Sensor Detects the angle of the steering wheel and transmits the resulting signals to the television camera assembly via CAN communication.
Hybrid Vehicle Control ECU Assembly Transmits the vehicle information signal to the television camera assembly via CAN communication.
Main Body ECU (Multiplex Network Body ECU) Transmits the luggage compartment door courtesy switch signal to the television camera assembly via CAN communication.
No. 3 Semiconductor Power Integration ECU Receives the reverse signal from the shift control ECU assembly and transmits it to the multi-display
Blind Spot Monitor Sensor RH*1 Transmits the RCTA operation condition signals to the television camera assembly via CAN communication.
Clearance Warning ECU Assembly Transmits the sonar information signal to the television camera assembly via CAN communication.
Front Steering Control ECU*2 Transmits the VGRS relative angle signals to the television camera assembly via CAN communication.

      • *1: w/ Blind Spot Monitor System

      • *2: w/ Variable Gear Ratio Steering System

  3. OPERATION EXPLANATION

    1. The multi-display receives the reverse signal when the power switch is on (READY) and the shift position is moved to R. After receiving the reverse signal, the multi-display switches to the parking assist monitor system.
