HYBRID CONTROL SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P071000

DTC Code DTC Name
P071000 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance

DTC SUMMARY

  1. MALFUNCTION DESCRIPTION

This indicates that a malfunction occurred due to an abnormal fluid temperature output value.

The cause of this DTC may be one of the following.

    • Output value of fluid temperature sensor is stuck at low or high temperature

DESCRIPTION

The ATF temperature sensor converts the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) temperature into a resistance value for use by the hybrid vehicle control ECU assembly.

DTC No. Detection Item DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area MIL Warning Indicate
P071000 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance

Either condition is met:

  • The ATF temperature is below -10°C (14°F) for 3 seconds or more even when driving distance is 8 km (5 mile) or more and 19 minutes or more have elapsed since the engine was started when the engine coolant temperature and intake air temperature were -20°C (-4°F) or higher 12 seconds after starting the engine.

    (2-trip detection logic)

  • With engine coolant temperature below 50°C (-122°F) and ATF temperature at 120°C (248°F) or higher 12 seconds after starting the engine, the ATF temperature does not drop below 120°C (248°F) continuously for 10 seconds or more even when the engine coolant is higher than 60°C (140°F)

    (2-trip detection logic)

Tech Tips

  • After repair has been completed, clear the DTC and then check that the vehicle has returned to normal by performing the following All Readiness check procedure.

  • If DTCs P071000, P261029 and/or P261093 are output simultaneously, confirm that the ATF temperature is as specified in "Normal Condition" using the GTS first. When the ATF temperature is as specified in "Normal Condition", perform troubleshooting for DTC P261029.

  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the power switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.

  3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).

  4. Turn the power switch off and wait for 2 minutes or more.

  5. Turn the power switch on (READY).

  6. Check that the value of the "Transmission Fluid Temperature" Data List item is -10°C (14°F) or higher and less than 120°C (248°F).

  7. When the above condition is not met, wait with the power switch on (READY) and check that the fluid temperature becomes -10°C (14°F) or higher and less than 120°C (248°F). (Maximum waiting time: 1 hour)

  8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Utility / All Readiness.

  9. Check the DTC judgment result.

    Tech Tips

    • If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.

    • If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.

    • If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform the normal judgment procedure again.
