Tech Tips

Perform these procedures after the engine has cooled down.


  1. INSPECT DRIVE BELT


    1. Inspect the drive belt.

  2. REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER


    1. Replace the engine oil and oil filter.

  3. INSPECT COOLING AND HEATER SYSTEM


    1. Check that the radiator, condenser and/or intercooler is not blocked with leaves, dirt or insects, and clean them if necessary. Also check the hose connection for the installation condition, corrosion, etc.

  4. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT


    1. Inspect the engine coolant.

  5. REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT


    1. Replace the engine coolant.

  6. INSPECT INVERTER COOLANT


    1. Inspect the inverter coolant.

  7. REPLACE INVERTER COOLANT


    1. Replace the inverter coolant.

  8. INSPECT ENGINE OIL COOLER HOSES AND CONNECTIONS


    1. Check the oil cooler hoses for cracks, leakage, loose connections and deformation.

  9. INSPECT EXHAUST PIPES AND MOUNTINGS


    1. Visually check the pipes, hangers and connections for severe corrosion, leaks or damage.

  10. REPLACE SPARK PLUGS


    1. Replace the spark plugs.

  11. INSPECT AUXILIARY BATTERY


    1. Inspect the auxiliary battery.

  12. REPLACE FUEL FILTER


    1. Replace the fuel filter.

  13. ADD FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM


    1. for Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Aruba, Republic of Korea, Macao and Slovakia:

      Add fuel injector cleaner to the fuel tank.

  14. INSPECT AIR CLEANER FILTER ELEMENT


    1. Remove the air cleaner filter element.

      Check that the air cleaner filter element is not excessively dirty.

      If the air cleaner filter element is excessively dirty, replace the air cleaner filter element.

    3. If cleaning the air cleaner filter element, blow compressed air as shown in the illustration to clean it.

    4. Reinstall the air cleaner filter element.

  15. INSPECT FUEL TANK CAP GASKET


    1. Check the fuel tank cap gasket.

  16. INSPECT FUEL LINES, CONNECTIONS, FUEL TANK VAPOR VENT SYSTEM HOSES AND FUEL TANK BANDS


    1. Visually check the fuel lines and hoses for cracks, leaks, loose connections, or deformation.

    2. Check for tank band looseness or deformation.

  17. INSPECT CHARCOAL CANISTER


    1. Inspect the charcoal canister.
