STEERING WHEEL INSTALLATION

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note


  • Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the power switch on (IG).

  • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel assembly installed, with the battery connected and the power switch on (IG).

  • Ensure that the steering wheel assembly is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL TRANSMISSION SHIFT SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  2. INSTALL LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER (w/o Steering Heater)


    1. Attach the 4 claws and install the lower steering wheel boss cover to the steering wheel sub-assembly with the 2 screws.

  3. CONNECT LOWER STEERING WHEEL BOSS COVER (w/ Steering Heater)

  4. INSTALL STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  5. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  6. INSPECT AND ADJUST SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

  7. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

      *a Matchmark

      Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft to install the steering wheel assembly.

    2. Using a 10 mm hexagon socket wrench, install the steering wheel assembly set bolt.

      Torque:
      62 N*m  { 632 kgf*cm, 46 ft.*lbf }
    3. w/ Steering Heater:


      1. Connect the connectors to the steering wheel heater control assembly.

    4. Connect each connector to the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

  8. CHECK STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT

  9. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
