LIGHTING SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK


  1. AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK


    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    2. Turn the light control switch to the AUTO position.

    3. Cover the automatic light control sensor.

    4. Check that the taillights and low beam headlights turn on.

    5. Uncover the automatic light control sensor.

    6. Check that the low beam headlights and taillights turn off.

  2. LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK (except Driver Door-linked Auto Light Turn-off System)


    1. When the light control switch is in the tail or head position


      1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      2. Turn the low beam headlights or high beam headlights on.

      3. Turn the engine switch off.

      4. Check that the low beam headlights and high beam headlights turn off immediately.

        Tech Tips

        The taillights and rear fog light* remain on.

    2. When the light control switch is in the AUTO position


      1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      2. Turn the taillights, low beam headlights, high beam headlights or rear fog light* on.

      3. Turn the engine switch off.

      4. Check that all of the lights turn off immediately.

  3. LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK (for Driver Door-linked Auto Light Turn-off System)


    1. Close all of the doors.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the taillights, low beam headlights, high beam headlights and rear fog lights* on.

    4. Turn the engine switch off.

    5. Open the driver door.

    6. Check that all of the lights turn off immediately.

  4. LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK (w/ Delay Function)


    1. When the taillights are on (low beam headlights are not on)


      1. Close all of the doors.

      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      3. Turn the taillights on.

      4. Turn the engine switch off.

      5. Open the driver door.

      6. Check that all of the lights turn off immediately.

    2. When the low beam headlights are on


      1. Close all of the doors.

      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      3. Turn the low beam headlights on.

      4. Turn the engine switch off.

      5. Open any of the doors.

      6. Close the door.

      7. Check that all of the lights turn off after 30 seconds (delay function).

        Tech Tips

        Before the lights turn off, if the lock button on the key is pushed after all of the doors are locked, all of the lights will turn off immediately.

  5. OUTSIDE HANDLE LIGHT CONTROL OPERATION CHECK

    Note

    Before performing an operation check, check that the lighting system customization is set to its initial setting.

    1. With the engine switch off, all the doors closed and all the doors locked, unlock the front door (key-linked, wireless, entry unlock) and check that the corresponding lights turn off after illuminating for approximately 15 seconds.

    2. Check that the respective lights turn off when the following conditions are met: any door is opened before the lights turn off from a condition where the engine switch is off and the lights are timer controlled (illuminated for approximately 15 seconds), and 15 seconds have elapsed since the door is opened.

    3. Check that the respective lights turn off when any of the following conditions is met: all the doors are closed or locked, or the engine switch is turned on (IG) from a state where the engine switch is off and the lights are timer controlled (illuminated for approximately 15 seconds).

  6. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK

    Note

    Vehicles displaying the Item "DRL Function" on the GTS:

    This check is possible only when the "DRL Function" customize setting is set to ON on the GTS. (The default setting is ON.)

    1. Turn the light control switch to the off* or AUTO position (with the low beam headlights not turned on via the automatic light control system).


      • *: w/ Light Control Switch Off Position

    2. Start the engine.

    3. Release the parking brake.

    4. Check that the daytime running lights come on.

  7. WELCOME LIGHT ILLUMINATION CONTROL OPERATION CHECK

    Note

    This check is possible only when the "Light up Clearance Lights at Door Unlock Function" customize setting is set to ON on the GTS. (The default setting is ON.)

    1. Check welcome light illumination turns on


      1. Turn the engine switch off.

      2. Turn the light control switch to the AUTO position.

      3. Cover the automatic light control sensor.

      4. Close and lock all doors.

      5. Unlock all doors by wireless door unlock or entry door unlock.

      6. Check that the taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights come on for 15 seconds.

    2. Check welcome light illumination turns off


      1. After the welcome light illumination (taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights) turns on, perform one of the following operations within 15 seconds and check that the welcome light illumination turn off.


        1. The engine switch is turned from off to on (IG).

        2. The light control switch is turned to any position except the AUTO position.

        3. Lock all doors by wireless door lock or entry door lock.

  8. FOLLOW ME HOME SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK (w/ Follow Me Home System)


    1. Turn the engine switch off.

    2. Turn the light control switch to the AUTO position.

    3. Pull the light control switch to flash the headlights once.

    4. Check that the low beam headlights come on for approximately 30 seconds.

  9. CORNERING LIGHT CONTROL OPERATION CHECK


    1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    2. Turn the light control switch to the HEAD position.

    3. Perform the following operations while driving the vehicle at 30 km/h (19 mph) or less and check that the cornering lights operate appropriately.


      • Operate the right turn signal switch and check that the cornering light RH illuminates.

      • Operate the left turn signal switch and check that the cornering light LH illuminates.

      • Turn the steering wheel 80 degrees or more to the right and check that the cornering light RH illuminates. Turn the steering wheel to an angle of 30 degrees or less and check that the cornering light RH turns off.

      • Turn the steering wheel 80 degrees or more to the left and check that the cornering light LH illuminates. Turn the steering wheel to an angle of 30 degrees or less and check that the cornering light LH turns off.

      • Move the shift lever to R and check that the cornering light LH and cornering light RH illuminate.

  10. AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT BEAM LEVEL CONTROL OPERATION CHECK


    1. Check that the initialization (determination of the initial position) of the headlight leveling motor (headlight assembly) is performed when the engine switch is turned on (IG).

    2. Check that the headlight moves when all of the following conditions are met: 1) the front or rear of the vehicle is moved up or down, 2) the start the engine, 3) the vehicle is stopped, and 4) the light control switch is in the head position.

      Note

      Make sure to change the vehicle height slowly.

  11. AUTOMATIC HIGH BEAM SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK (w/ Automatic High Beam System)

      Check the operation of the automatic high beam indicator light.


      1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      2. Turn the light control switch to the AUTO or head position.

      3. Turn the headlight dimmer switch to the high position.

      4. Turn the automatic high beam main switch on.

        Tech Tips

        If the automatic high beam main switch is turned on when the light control switch is not in the AUTO or head position, or the dimmer switch is not in the high position, "To Active Auto High Beam, Switch Headlights to High Beam" will be displayed on the multi-information display.

      5. Check that the automatic high beam indicator light turns on.

    2. Check the operation of the automatic high beam function.


      1. At night, when driving the vehicle with the automatic high beam system in standby mode, check that the high beams automatically turn on after a short delay when all of the following conditions are met:


        • Vehicle speed is more than approximately 40 km/h (25 mph). (for European Models)

        • Vehicle speed is more than approximately 30 km/h (19 mph). (except European Models)

        • The area in front of the vehicle is dark.

        • There are no oncoming vehicles with headlights on.

        • There are no preceding vehicles with taillights on.

        • There are few streetlights along the street ahead.

      2. At night, when driving the vehicle with the high beams turned on by the automatic high beam system, check that the automatic high beam system turns off the high beams and returns to standby mode when any of the following conditions are met:


        • Vehicle speed is less than approximately 30 km/h (19 mph). (for European Models)

        • Vehicle speed is less than approximately 25 km/h (16 mph). (except European Models)

        • The level of ambient light is higher than a specified threshold.

        • There are oncoming vehicles with headlights on.

        • There are preceding vehicles with taillights on.

        • Light from streetlights ahead is higher than a specified threshold.
