WIPER AND WASHER SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK


  1. FRONT WIPER OPERATION INSPECTION


    1. Door Open Linked Wiper Suspend Function


      1. Continuously apply water to the windshield glass in front of the rain sensor.

      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      3. Move the windshield wiper switch assembly to the AUTO position and check that the front wipers begin to operate.

      4. Open the driver door or front passenger door and check that the front wipers stop.

    2. Service Position Control


      1. Turn the engine switch off.

      2. Within 45 seconds of turning the engine switch off, hold the windshield wiper switch assembly in the MIST position for 2 seconds and check that the front wipers move to the uppermost position.

    3. AUTO Wiper Function


      1. Continuously apply water to the windshield glass in front of the rain sensor.

      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      3. Move the windshield wiper switch assembly to the AUTO position.

      4. Check that the front wipers operate.

    4. Check Intermittent Control Function

      Tech Tips

      When the AUTO wiper function is disabled through a customize setting, the intermittent control function can be operated.

      1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      2. Move the windshield wiper switch assembly to the AUTO position.

      3. Check that the intermittent operation interval can be adjusted from approximately 4 to 12.5 seconds by operating the intermittent time adjustment switch.

    5. Vehicle Speed Linked Wiper Control

      Tech Tips

      When the AUTO wiper function is disabled through a customize setting, the vehicle speed linked wiper control can be operated.

      1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      2. Move the windshield wiper switch assembly to the AUTO position.

      3. Check that the intermittent operation interval changes from approximately 1.5 to 11 seconds according to the vehicle speed and the position of the intermittent time adjustment switch of the windshield wiper switch assembly.

  2. WASHER OPERATION INSPECTION


    1. Washer Control Function


      1. Controls when the washer fluid is sprayed and stopped while windshield wiper switch assembly (washer switch) is turned on. In addition, the washer fluid spray time changes according to the vehicle speed and outside temperature.

    2. Washer Operation Inspection

      Tech Tips

      If the windshield wiper switch assembly (washer switch) is on continuously for 40 seconds or more, the system determines a malfunction and the washer operation stops.


      1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      2. When windshield wiper switch assembly (washer switch) is on for approximately 0.3 seconds or more and the wiper operates for 1 round trip or less:

        If the windshield wiper switch assembly (washer switch) is on for approximately 0.3 seconds or more, the wiper operates at a speed slower than LO after 0.5 seconds elapse. Check that the wiper operation is performed twice in LO after the windshield wiper switch assembly (washer switch) is turned off.

      3. When windshield wiper switch assembly (washer switch) is on for longer than 1 round trip:

        The wiper operation continues until the windshield wiper switch assembly (washer switch) is turned off. Check that the wiper operation is performs 3 times after the windshield wiper switch assembly (washer switch) is turned off.

    3. Drip Prevention Wiper Function


      1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

      2. With the vehicle stationary or while driving at a speed of less than approximately 4 km/h (2 mph), operate the windshield wiper switch assembly (washer switch) and, check that the front wipers operate for 1 cycle approximately 3 seconds after washer cooperation operation ends.

  3. HEADLIGHT CLEANER OPERATION INSPECTION


    1. The headlight cleaner operates as follows:

      Headlight Low Beam Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly (Washer Switch)
      First Time Second Time to Fourth Time Sixth Time and Every Five Times
      On Activated Not Activated Activated
      Off Not Activated Not Activated Not Activated

  4. LEVEL WARNING OPERATION INSPECTION


    1. When the volume of washer fluid decreases to below a certain level (when the level warning switch is turned on), the multi-information display warns the driver by displaying a message.
