SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed or replaced during the door side airbag sensor removal/installation are shown below.

    Be sure to read precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:


    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR TRIM COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (for Driver Side)

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 FRONT DOOR HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Rotate the clip knob 45° counterclockwise and remove the clip.

      Use the same procedure for the other clips.

  9. REMOVE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR LH


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • B000Y52

        Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • B000VJQ

        If this procedure is performed without disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal, the airbag may deploy even if an impact is applied only to the door side airbag sensor LH. Therefore, make sure that the negative (-) battery terminal is disconnected before performing this procedure.

    3. Disconnect the airbag connector.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.


      1. Push down the housing lock and slide the CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

      2. Push the housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

        Note

        Do not push down the upper part of the CPA shown in the illustration when disconnecting the airbag connector.

      3. After disconnecting the connector, check that the position of the housing lock is correct as shown in the illustration.

    4. B000XCP

      Remove the nut.

      Note


      • Loosen the nut while holding the door side airbag sensor LH because the door side airbag sensor LH claw is easily damaged.

      • If the door side airbag sensor LH has been dropped, replace it with a new one.

    5. Detach the claw and remove the door side airbag sensor LH.
