The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed or replaced during the airbag ECU assembly removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE NO. 2 DECK BOARD

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:


    • Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  4. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • B000Y52

        Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • B000VJQ

        If this procedure is performed without disconnecting the negative (-) battery terminal of the battery, the airbag may deploy even if an impact is applied only to the airbag ECU assembly. Therefore, make sure that the negative (-) battery terminal of the battery is disconnected before performing this procedure.

      Disconnect the airbag connector.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.


      1. Push and pull the connector lock lever to release the connector lock as shown in the illustration.

      2. Disconnect the airbag connector.

    4. Remove the 3 bolts and airbag ECU assembly.

      Note

      If the airbag ECU assembly has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case or connector, replace the airbag ECU assembly with a new one.
