CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for RHD and LHD vehicles.

  • The procedure listed below is for LHD vehicles.

  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY LH


    1. Check that the engine switch is turned off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • Do not begin this procedure within 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

    3. Install 7 new clips (A) to the curtain shield airbag assembly LH.

      Note

      Do not push the pin and lock the clip at this time.

    4. Install the curtain shield airbag assembly LH to the vehicle with 2 new clips (C).

    5. Install 3 new clips (B) in order from the rear side of the vehicle.

    6. Attach the claw and the 7 clips (A) to the vehicle side.

      Note


      • Install the clip (A) in order from the front side of the vehicle.

      • Do not push the pin and lock the clip at this time.

    7. Check that there is no twisting in the deployment portion of the curtain shield airbag assembly LH.

    8. Tighten 4 new bolts in the order shown in the illustration to install the curtain shield airbag assembly LH.

      Torque:
      11 N*m  { 112 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf }

    9. Using needle-nose pliers, push the pin to lock the 7 clips (A).

      Note

      Make sure the pin is securely locked.

      Connect the airbag connector and press the lock button to lock.

      Note


      • When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

      • Make sure the lock button is securely locked.
