POP UP HOOD ECU ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

CAUTION:

Be sure to correctly follow the removal and installation procedures for the pedestrian detection ECU assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT PEDESTRIAN DETECTION ECU ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle not Involved in Collision)


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check.

  2. INSPECT PEDESTRIAN DETECTION ECU ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle Involved in Collision and Airbag not Deployed)


    1. Perform a diagnostic system check.

      Click here

    2. Visually check for defects with the pedestrian detection ECU assembly installed to the vehicle.

      Tech Tips

      The defects are as follows:


      • Cracks in the ECU housing

      • Dents in the ECU housing

      • Chips in the ECU housing

      • Cracks or other damage to the connectors

      • Peeling of the label

      OK
      No defects are found.

      If any defects are found, replace the pedestrian detection ECU assembly with a new one.

  3. INSPECT PEDESTRIAN DETECTION ECU ASSEMBLY (for Vehicle Involved in Collision and Airbag is Deployed)


    1. Replace the pedestrian detection ECU assembly.

      Tech Tips

      The pedestrian detection ECU assembly should be replaced after any of the SRS parts has deployed, as it has been subjected to an impact.
