REAR BRAKE DISASSEMBLY

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note


  • To prevent rusting on the inside of the disc brake cylinder assembly LH, remove and install the rear disc brake piston quickly.

  • Remove only indicated parts.

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE CYLINDER BOOT


    1. B000UIBC01
      *a Wooden Block

      Install a wooden block between the pistons of the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH to stop them coming out.

    2. Using an air gun, gradually apply compressed air until the 4 rear disc brake pistons touch the wooden block.

      CAUTION:


      • Do not insert your hand between the pistons to hold the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

      • When compressed air is blown in, the rear disc brake piston may jump out quickly and trap your fingers.

      Note

      Do not allow any brake fluid to spatter.

    3. Remove the wooden block.

    4. B000TOO

      Remove the 4 cylinder boots from the 4 disc brake pistons.

  2. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PISTON


    1. B000YIJ

      Remove the 4 rear disc brake pistons from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

  3. REMOVE PISTON SEAL


    1. B000VXQC01
      *a Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped with protective tape, remove the 4 piston seals from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly LH.

      Note

      Do not damage the inner surface or piston seal groove of the rear disc brake cylinder.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use

  4. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BLEEDER PLUG CAP
