BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER(for RHD) REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during brake master cylinder sub-assembly removal/installation are shown below.

  • Brake warning light/yellow (minor malfunction) illuminates

  • Slip indicator light illuminates

  • VSC disabled or malfunctions


Brake actuator assembly
  • Bleed air

  • Clear stored linear solenoid valve calibration data

  • Perform initialization and calibration of the linear solenoid valve

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

While the battery is connected, even if the engine switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore during servicing of the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal and open/close the doors while the battery is connected.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP CONNECTOR

  3. PERFORM ACCUMULATOR PRESSURE ZERO DOWN

  4. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID

    Note

    If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, immediately wash it off.

  5. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  6. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET

  7. DISCONNECT BRAKE TUBE

      Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the brake tube flare nut.

  8. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

  9. REMOVE NO. 2 AIR DUCT

    Click here

  10. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER CENTER SUB DUCT

  11. REMOVE BRAKE PEDAL RETURN SPRING

  12. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY

  13. REMOVE PUSH ROD PIN

  14. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER WITH STROKE SIMULATOR CYLINDER ASSEMBLY


    1. B000WPP

      Remove the 4 nuts.

    2. B000YYW

      Disconnect the brake fluid level warning switch connector.

    3. Detach the wire harness clamp.

      Tech Tips

      Disconnect the wire harness clamp after pulling out the brake master with simulator cylinder assembly a small amount.

    4. B000XOJ

      Remove the brake master with stroke simulator cylinder assembly.

      Note


      • Do not kink or damage the No. 2 brake actuator tube.

      • Protect the surface of the relay block so that it does not become damaged on the brake master with stroke simulator cylinder assembly.

  15. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER GASKET


    1. Remove the brake master cylinder gasket from the brake master with stroke simulator cylinder assembly.
