METER / GAUGE SYSTEM Steering Pad Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The combination meter assembly and steering pad switch assembly are connected via direct line. The main display and multi-information display in the combination meter assembly are operated using the switches of the steering pad switch assembly.

Note


  • When replacing the combination meter assembly, always replace it with a new one. If a combination meter assembly which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in it will not match the information from the vehicle and a DTC may be stored.

  • The vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) which includes components such as airbags. Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read the precaution for Supplemental Restraint System.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly.

    2. Inspect the steering pad switch assembly.

  2. INSPECT SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL WITH SENSOR CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the P25 combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the P19 spiral with sensor cable sub-assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      P25-2 (MSM+) - P19-11 (+DP) Always Below 1 Ω
      P25-1 (MSSL) - P19-4 (EAU) Always Below 1 Ω
      P25-3 (MSTI) - P19-10 (+DP2) Always Below 1 Ω
      P25-2 (MSM+) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      P25-3 (MSTI) - Other terminals and body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
