DESCRIPTION

The front center ultrasonic sensor (front left center sensor) is installed on the front bumper. The clearance warning ECU assembly detects obstacles based on signals received from the front center ultrasonic sensor (front left center sensor). If the front center ultrasonic sensor (front left center sensor) has an open circuit or other malfunction, it will not function normally.

Note

If DTCs are output after repairs, turn the engine switch on (IG) and the LEXUS parking assist-sensor system on. Then clear the DTCs.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT FRONT CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR (FRONT LEFT CENTER SENSOR)


    1. Remove the front center ultrasonic sensor (front left center sensor).

    2. Inspect the front center ultrasonic sensor (front left center sensor).

    REPLACE FRONT CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR (front left center sensor) Click here

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FRONT CENTER ULTRASONIC SENSOR [FRONT LEFT CENTER SENSOR] - CLEARANCE WARNING ECU ASSEMBLY)


    1. Disconnect the D4 front center ultrasonic sensor (front left center sensor) connector.

    2. Disconnect the X12 clearance warning ECU assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D4-2 (S) - X12-25 (S8) Always Below 1 Ω
      D4-1 (E) - X12-26 (E8) Always Below 1 Ω
      D4-2 (S) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
