SFI SYSTEM(w/ Canister Pump Module), Diagnostic DTC:P0192, P0193

DTC Code DTC Name
P0192 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input
P0193 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input

DESCRIPTION

B000UU1E28

The fuel pressure sensor is installed on the delivery pipe. The fuel pressure sensor changes the fuel pressure into an electrical signal and sends the signal to the ECM. Then the ECM controls the pump discharge using this feedback to maintain the fuel's target pressure between 2.0 and 18 MPa (20.4 and 183.5 kgf/cm2, 290 and 2611 psi). If the sensor output stops, the ECM will stop the fuel pump with seal sub-assembly (for high pressure side) and supply fuel using the fuel pump with filter assembly (for low pressure side).

Tech Tips

After confirming DTC P0192 and/or P0193 use the GTS to confirm the fuel pressure in the delivery pipe by entering the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Ptrl General / Fuel Press.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

These DTCs are stored if the fuel pressure sensor output voltage is out of the standard range due to an open or short in the sensor circuit.

MONITOR STRATEGY

Required Sensors/Components Fuel delivery pipe LH (fuel pressure sensor)

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

  3. Turn the GTS on.

  4. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure).

  5. Turn the engine switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

  6. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

  7. Turn the GTS on.

  8. Wait 3 seconds or more.

  9. Start the engine.

  10. Idle the engine for 10 seconds [A].

  11. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

  12. Read the pending DTCs [B].

    Tech Tips

    • If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.

    • If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.

  13. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.

  14. Input the DTC: P0192 or P0193.

  15. Check the DTC judgment result.

    GTS Display Description
    NORMAL
    • DTC judgment completed

    • System normal

    ABNORMAL
    • DTC judgment completed

    • System abnormal

    INCOMPLETE
    • DTC judgment not completed

    • Perform driving pattern after confirming DTC enabling conditions

    N/A
    • Unable to perform DTC judgment

    • Number of DTCs which do not fulfill DTC preconditions has reached ECU memory limit

    Tech Tips

    • If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.

    • If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.

    • If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform steps [A] and [B] again.

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (FUEL PRESS)

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Start the engine.

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Ptrl General / Fuel Press.

Powertrain > Engine > Data List
      Tester Display
      Fuel Press
    5. Read the values.

      OK
