REAR SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during rear seat airbag assembly removal/installation are shown below.

Note

If a rear seat airbag assembly has been deployed, replace the rear seat airbag assembly, rear side seatback frame sub-assembly, rear side seatback pad and rear side seatback cover sub-assembly with the necessary parts in accordance with the extent of the collision damage.

  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

  6. DISCONNECT REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP

    Tech Tips

    Disconnect the rear door opening trim weatherstrip to the extent that allows the removal of the rear side seatback assembly.

    CAUTION:

    When storing the rear seat airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

      Disengage the clamp.

    2. Disconnect the wire harness from the wire harness clamp.

    3. Remove the 2 nuts and rear seat airbag assembly.

      Note


      • Do not reuse the nuts.

      • Make sure that the rear side seatback frame sub-assembly is not deformed. If it is deformed, replace it with a new one.
