SMART ENTRY AND START SYSTEM(for Entry Function) Entry Exterior Alarm and Answer-back Buzzer do not Sound

DESCRIPTION

The smart entry and start system (for Entry Function) uses the wireless door lock buzzer to perform various vehicle exterior warnings. When the conditions of each warning are met, the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) sends a buzzer activation request signal to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) via CAN communication and the buzzer sounds.

  • When using the GTS with the engine switch off, connect the GTS to the DLC3 and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the GTS and the vehicle begins. Then select Model Code "KEY REGIST" under manual mode and enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry&Start(CAN). While using the GTS, periodically turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less to maintain communication between the GTS and the vehicle.

  • The smart entry and start system (for Entry Function) uses the LIN communication system and CAN communication system. Inspect the communication function by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting. Troubleshoot the smart entry and start system (for Entry Function) after confirming that the communication systems are functioning properly.

  • Before replacing the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) or main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU), refer to Service Bulletin.

  • After repair, confirm that no DTCs are output.

  • The vehicle battery supplies power to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) via the door control battery. Therefore, before performing this troubleshooting procedure, make sure to perform an on-vehicle inspection to confirm that the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) power source circuit is normal.*

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK CUSTOMIZE SETTING (WIRELESS BUZZER RESP)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Customize Setting / Wireless Door Lock.

  3. READ VALUE USING GTS (EACH UNLOCK DETECTION SWITCH)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the GTS.

  4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (WIRELESS BUZZER)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Active Test.

    5. Perform Active Test according to the display on the GTS.
