DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL SYSTEM(for 2AR-FE) FAIL-SAFE CHART

  1. Tech Tips

If any of the following auto cancel conditions are detected while the dynamic radar cruise control system is controlling vehicle speed, the system clears the stored vehicle speed and cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system.

    Automatic Cancel Control

    Constant Speed Control Mode:
Auto Cancel Condition Warning Fail-safe Deactivation Condition
Multi-information Display Master Warning Light Warning Buzzer
Open or short in stop light switch circuit Cruise Control Malfunction Visit Your Dealer Illuminates Sounds Dynamic radar cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch.

    • Problem with stop light switch input circuit

    • Problem with cruise control main switch cancel circuit

    • Malfunction in the vehicle stability control system

    • Communication stop between skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly) and ECM

Cruise Control Malfunction Visit Your Dealer Illuminates Sounds Ignition switch is turned off and back to ON again.

If the following condition occurs, the ECM cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system (stored vehicle speed is maintained):

    • Vehicle speed is less than approximately 40 km/h (25 mph) while driving with the dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

    - Does not illuminate - +RES switch is pushed.
Malfunction in SFI system - Illuminates - Dynamic radar cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch.
Vehicle speed is less than stored vehicle speed by approximately 16 km/h (10 mph) or more - Does not illuminate - -SET switch is pushed.

    • Vehicle stability control system operates while driving with dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

    • TRC system operates for a certain period of time while driving with dynamic radar cruise control system controlling vehicle speed.

    • TRC is turned off

    • VSC is turned off

    • Drive start control is performed

    • Electric parking brake is applied

    - Does not illuminate - +RES switch is pushed.
    Vehicle-to-vehicle Distance Control Mode:
Auto Cancel Condition Warning Fail-safe Deactivation Condition
Multi-information Display Master Warning Light Warning Buzzer
Open or short in stop light switch circuit Cruise Control Malfunction Visit Your Dealer Illuminates Sounds Dynamic radar cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch.
Malfunction in SFI system - Illuminates - Dynamic radar cruise control system is turned off and back on again using the cruise control main switch.

If either of the following conditions occurs, the ECM cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system (stored vehicle speed is maintained):

    • A preceding vehicle is not detected when follow-up control is being performed at a vehicle speed of approximately 40 km/h (25 mph) or less

    - Does not illuminate Sounds twice +RES switch is pushed.

    • Malfunction in the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly

    • Beam axis of millimeter wave radar sensor assembly misaligned

    • Problem with stop light switch input circuit

    • Problem with cruise control main switch cancel circuit

Cruise Control Malfunction Visit Your Dealer Illuminates Sounds Ignition switch is turned off and back to ON again.

If the following condition occurs, the ECM cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system (stored vehicle speed is maintained):

    • Millimeter wave radar sensor assembly becomes dirty

Radar Cruise Control Unavailable Clean Sensor Illuminates Sounds The condition returns to normal (the resume function can be operated after fail-safe is deactivated).

If any of the conditions listed below occurs, the ECM cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system (stored vehicle speed is maintained):

    • Millimeter wave radar sensor assembly sensitivity reduced because of bad weather such as rain, fog, snow, or sandstorm

    • Brake control by the dynamic radar cruise control system is temporarily unavailable

    • The beam axis of the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly is being aligned

    • The forward recognition camera is temporarily unavailable

Radar Cruise Control Unavailable Illuminates Sounds The conditions return to normal (the resume function can be operated after fail-safe is deactivated).

    • Vehicle stability control system operates while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed

    • TRC system operates for a certain period of time while driving with cruise control system controlling vehicle speed.

    • TRC is turned off

    • VSC is turned off

    • Drive start control is performed

    • Electric parking brake is applied

    - Does not illuminate - +RES switch is pushed.

If any of the following conditions occur while the vehicle stopped, the ECM cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system:

    • Open or short in stop light switch circuit

    • Malfunction in the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly

    • Beam axis of millimeter wave radar sensor assembly misaligned

    • Problem with stop light switch input circuit

    • Problem with cruise control main switch cancel circuit

    • Millimeter wave radar sensor assembly sensitivity reduced because of bad weather such as rain, fog, snow, or sandstorm

    • Millimeter wave radar sensor assembly becomes dirty

    • Brake control by the dynamic radar cruise control system is temporarily unavailable

    • The beam axis of the millimeter wave radar sensor assembly is being aligned

    • The forward recognition camera is temporarily unavailable

Cruise Control Fault Press Brake to Deactivate Visit Your Dealer Illuminates 4 beeps are heard The conditions return to normal (the resume function can be operated after fail-safe is deactivated).

If any of the following conditions occur while the vehicle is stopped, the ECM cancels control of vehicle speed by the dynamic radar cruise control system:

    • The driver seat belt is unfastened

    • The driver door is opened

    • The vehicle is parked for a long period of time

    • The vehicle is stopped on a steep hill

    • A preceding vehicle is not detected

Radar Cruise Control Unavailable Press Brake to Resume Driving Does not illuminate - The conditions return to normal (the resume function can be operated after fail-safe is deactivated).
