The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed and installed, or replaced during timing chain cover oil seal removal/installation are shown below.

  1. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE

  2. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT

  3. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY

      *b Turn

      Using SST, hold the crankshaft pulley and loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt. Further loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt until 2 or 3 threads remain screwed into the crankshaft.

      Tech Tips

      Insert a few washers (total thickness: approximately 5.0 mm (0.197 in.)) between SST (09213-70011) and SST (09214-00030).

      *1 Crankshaft Pulley Bolt
      *a Hold
      *b Turn

      Using SST and the crankshaft pulley bolt, remove the crankshaft pulley and crankshaft pulley bolt.

      Tech Tips

      Apply a lubricant to the threads and end of SST.

  4. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER OIL SEAL

      *a Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver, pry out the timing chain cover oil seal.

      Note

      Do not damage the surface of the timing chain cover oil seal press fit hole or the crankshaft.

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
