| *a | An Object Exceeding Weight Limit of Engine Lifter |
The engine assembly with transaxle is very heavy. Be sure to follow the procedure described in the repair manual, or the engine lifter may suddenly drop or the engine assembly with transaxle may fall off the engine lifter.
To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust manifold or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.
| *a | An Object Exceeding Weight Limit of Transmission Jack |
The automatic transaxle assembly is very heavy. Be sure to follow the procedure described in the repair manual, or the transmission jack may suddenly drop.
PROCEDURE
REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY
REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY
REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY
Remove the 19 bolts and automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly from the automatic transaxle assembly.
Some fluid will remain in the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly. Remove all the bolts and carefully remove the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.
REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN GASKET
Remove the automatic transaxle oil pan gasket from the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.
REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL CLEANER MAGNET
| *1 | Transmission Oil Cleaner Magnet |
Remove the 4 transmission oil cleaner magnets from the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.
Examine the particles in the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.
Collect any steel chips with the removed transmission oil cleaner magnets. Look carefully at the chips and particles in the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly and on the transmission oil cleaner magnets to see the type of wear which might be found in the automatic transaxle assembly.
| Result |
|---|
| Steel (magnetic) |
| Bearing, gear and plate wear |
| Brass (non-magnetic) |
| Bushing wear |
REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY
Remove the 2 bolts and valve body oil strainer assembly from the transmission valve body assembly.
Remove the O-ring from the valve body oil strainer assembly.
REMOVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY
Remove the 11 bolts and transmission valve body assembly from the automatic transaxle assembly.
When removing the transmission valve body assembly, be careful not to allow the transmission revolution sensor and automatic transaxle assembly to interfere with each other.
REMOVE TRANSAXLE CASE GASKET
Remove the 2 transaxle case gaskets from the automatic transaxle assembly.
REMOVE MANUAL VALVE
| *1 | Manual Valve |
Remove the manual valve from the transmission valve body assembly.
