RESET TRANSAXLE COMPENSATION CODE
Note
If the following parts have been replaced, initialize the ECM and perform Reset Memory and Perform Road Test to Allow ECM to Learn.
Transmission valve body assembly
Solenoid (SL3) valve
Solenoid (SL4) valve
ECM
The transaxle compensation code can only be initialized with the GTS.
Tech Tips
The ECM (ECT) memorizes the vehicle conditions when controlling the automatic transaxle assembly and engine assembly.
Therefore, if the automatic transaxle assembly, transmission valve body assembly, solenoid (SL3) valve, solenoid (SL4) valve or ECM has been replaced, it is necessary to reset the memory so that the ECM can memorize the new information. The reset procedure is as follows:
Make sure the shift lever is in P or N.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / A/T Code Reset.
Tester Display
---
A/T Code Reset
Press "Next" again to proceed.
Note
After the transaxle compensation code is initialized, perform Reset Memory and Perform Road Test to Allow ECM to Learn.
Press "Exit".
RESET MEMORY
Note
Reset Memory can be performed only with the GTS.

After performing Reset Memory, be sure to perform Perform Road Test to Allow ECM to Learn.
PERFORM ROAD TEST TO ALLOW ECM TO LEARN
CAUTION:
Perform the following procedure while strictly observing all traffic laws and speed limits.
Warm up the engine.
Turn the ignition switch off.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Throttle Sensor Position.
Tester Display
---
Throttle Sensor Position
From a standstill, achieve highest possible speed with the accelerator pedal opened 15% or less. Keep the accelerator pedal opening angle steady while driving the vehicle.
Tech Tips
Throttle Sensor Position: 15% or less
Repeat the previous step until shift shock no longer occurs.
From a standstill, achieve highest possible speed with the accelerator pedal opened 25% to 35%. Keep the accelerator pedal opening angle steady while driving the vehicle.
Tech Tips
Throttle Sensor Position: 25 to 35%
Repeat the previous step until shift shock no longer occurs.
PERFORM ATF THERMAL DEGRADATION ESTIMATE RESET
Note
If either of the following conditions is met, perform ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate Reset.
The ATF has been replaced.
Tech Tips
If 50000 or more is displayed for the Data List item "ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate", thermal degradation of the ATF is suspected. Perform ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate Reset after replacing the ATF.
Approximately 50% or more of the ATF has been replaced during a repair of the transmission or a similar operation.
Turn the ignition switch off.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
With the shift lever in P, turn the ignition switch to ON.
Note
Do not start the engine.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menu: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Utility / ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate Reset.
Tester Display
---
ATF Thermal Degradation Estimate Reset
According to the display on the GTS, initialize the estimated thermal degradation value.
