DESCRIPTION
If the power steering ECU (rack and pinion power steering gear assembly) detects an abnormality in the steering torque requested by the forward recognition camera, the power steering ECU (rack and pinion power steering gear assembly) sends a malfunction signal to the forward recognition camera, and DTC C1A71 is stored.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
When replacing the forward recognition camera, always replace it with a new one. If a forward recognition camera which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in the forward recognition camera will not match the information from the vehicle. As a result, a DTC may be stored.
If the forward recognition camera has been replaced with a new one, be sure to perform forward recognition camera adjustment.
The lane departure alert system uses the CAN communication system. First, confirm that there are no malfunctions in the CAN communication system. Refer to How to Proceed with Troubleshooting.

CHECK FOR DTCs (POWER STEERING SYSTEM)
Lane departure alert system DTC C1A71 may be stored due to a malfunction in the power steering system. Therefore it is necessary to check for and troubleshoot power steering system DTCs first.
Check for DTCs.

CHECK FOR DTCs (LANE DEPARTURE ALERT SYSTEM)
Clear the DTCs.
Perform the following procedure.
If the following procedure is not performed, the previously output DTC cannot be detected.
Turn the ignition switch to ON and wait 8 seconds or more.
Check for DTCs.
