OIL PUMP REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

Do not remove the oil pump or oil pump relief valve from the timing chain cover assembly.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE FUEL PUMP WITH SEAL SUB-ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY

    Click here

  4. REMOVE FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE

    Click here

  5. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER

    Click here

  6. SEPARATE OUTLET NO. 1 HV WATER PUMP PIPE

      Remove the 2 bolts and separate the outlet No. 1 HV water pump pipe from the stiffening crankcase assembly.

  7. SEPARATE OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disengage the No. 3 engine wire clamp from the oil cooler tube sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the oil cooler tube sub-assembly from the stiffening crankcase assembly.

  8. DISCONNECT VENTILATION HOSE ASSEMBLY

      Slide the clip and disconnect the ventilation hose assembly from the ventilation valve sub-assembly.

  9. DISCONNECT ENGINE WIRE

      Disengage the 3 wire harness clamps.

    2. Disconnect the 2 camshaft timing oil control valve assembly connectors.

    3. Disconnect the 2 VVT sensor connectors.

    4. Disconnect the 4 ignition coil assembly connectors.

    5. Disconnect the engine oil pressure switch assembly connector.

    6. Remove the 5 nuts and disconnect the engine wire.

      Disengage the 2 wire harness clamps from the wire harness clamp bracket.

    8. Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.

      Disengage the 4 wire harness clamps.

    10. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

    11. Remove the 2 bolts and wire harness clamp bracket from the timing chain cover assembly.

      Remove the bolt to disconnect the wire harness clamp bracket from the timing chain cover assembly.

    13. Remove the 2 bolts to disconnect the 2 ground wires from the timing chain cover assembly.

    14. Disengage the wire harness clamp.

  10. REMOVE WIRING HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET

      Remove the 2 bolts and 2 wiring harness clamp brackets from the timing chain cover assembly.

  11. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY

  12. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 16 bolts, 3 seal washers and cylinder head cover sub-assembly from the camshaft housing sub-assembly.

    2. Remove the cylinder head cover gasket from the cylinder head cover sub-assembly.

      *a No. 1 Camshaft Bearing Cap
      *b No. 2 Camshaft Bearing Cap

      Remove the 3 camshaft bearing cap oil hole gaskets from the No. 1 camshaft bearing cap and No. 2 camshaft bearing cap.

  13. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK

  15. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR

  16. REMOVE CRANKSHAFT PULLEY ASSEMBLY

  17. REMOVE NO. 13 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

      Slide the 2 clips and remove the No. 13 water by-pass hose.

  18. REMOVE NO. 11 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

      Slide the 2 clips and remove the No. 11 water by-pass hose.

  19. REMOVE WATER OUTLET SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 bolts, nut and water outlet sub-assembly from the timing chain cover assembly.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the timing chain cover assembly.

  20. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 19 bolts and 3 nuts from the timing chain cover assembly.

    2. Remove the timing chain cover assembly by prying between the timing chain cover assembly and cylinder head sub-assembly or cylinder block sub-assembly with a screwdriver.

      *a Protective Tape - -

      Note

      Do not damage the contact surfaces of the timing chain cover assembly, camshaft housing sub-assembly, stiffening crankcase assembly, cylinder block sub-assembly and cylinder head sub-assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    3. A01OCSK

      Remove the water outlet gasket from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

      *1 Oil Pump Gasket
      *2 Oil Pipe Gasket

      Remove the oil pump gasket from the stiffening crankcase assembly.

    5. Remove the oil pipe gasket from the oil strainer sub-assembly.

  21. REMOVE TIMING CHAIN COVER OIL SEAL

      *b Wooden Block

      Using a screwdriver and wooden block, pry out the timing chain cover oil seal.

      Note

      Do not damage the surface of the timing chain cover oil seal press fit hole.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
