CAMSHAFT OIL CONTROL VALVE ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

   
   

   1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

   2. Put the engine in inspection mode (maintenance mode).

      Click here

   3. Start the engine.

   4. Turn the GTS on.

   5. Turn the A/C switch on.

   6. Inspect the camshaft timing oil control valve assembly.

      
      

      1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Control the VVT Linear (Bank 1) and Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank 1).

         
         Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Active Test

         Tester Display
         Control the VVT Linear (Bank1)

         
         Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Active Test

         Tester Display
         Control the VVT Exhaust Linear (Bank1)

   7. Check the engine speed while operating each camshaft timing oil control valve assembly using the GTS.

      Standard Condition
      Control Range Specified Condition 0% Normal engine speed 100% Engine idles roughly or stalls

      Tech Tips

      
      

      • The Active Test cannot be performed with the shift lever in P during charge control. Move the shift lever to N before performing the Active Test.

      • DTCs related to the VVT system may be stored due to Active Test operation, but this does not indicate a malfunction.
