POP UP HOOD SENSOR REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ENERGY ABSORBER

    Click here

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 FRONT BUMPER SIDE SUPPORT

      Disengage the 2 clips to remove the No. 1 front bumper side support.

      Note

      Do not damage the clip.

  4. REMOVE PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION SENSOR

    Note

    When removing the pop up hood sensor assembly in order to inspect it, do not remove the pedestrian protection sensor for the following reasons.


    • The installation bolt for the pedestrian protection sensor is a non-reusable part.

    • To preserve the airtight seal of the pedestrian detection chamber.


    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Disconnect the 2 connectors from the 2 pedestrian protection sensors.

      Note

      When disconnecting any pedestrian protection sensor connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.


      1. Push down the white housing lock and slide the yellow CPA. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

      2. Push down the white housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

        Note

        Do not push down the part (A) shown in the illustration when disconnecting the connector.

    4. Remove the 6 bolts, washer and 3 clips to remove the pop up hood sensor assembly from the vehicle body.

    5. After disconnecting the connector, check that the position of the white housing lock is as shown in the illustration.

      Remove the bolt and pedestrian protection sensor from the pedestrian detection chamber.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the other side.
