  • If the steering sensor zero point calibration is not performed, the adaptive high beam system and cornering lights may not operate correctly.

  • A new headlight ECU sub-assembly LH cannot operate until the synchronize the vehicle information.

  • After replacing the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH, it is necessary to perform synchronize the vehicle information and initialization.

  • Even if the headlight ECU sub-assembly RH is replaced with a new one, synchronize the vehicle information and initialization are not necessary.

  • Adjust the headlight aim after initializing the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH.

  • When a malfunction is detected in the automatic headlight beam level control system, rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH signal initialization is impossible. Perform troubleshooting before initialization.

  1. SYNCHRONIZE VEHICLE INFORMATION

    1. When using the GTS:

      1. Turn the engine switch off.

      2. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

      3. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and check that "Headlight System Uninitialized Visit Your Dealer" warning message is displayed on the multi-information display.

      4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / HL AutoLeveling*1 or AFS*2 / Utility / ECU Information Sync.

        • *1: for Single Beam Headlight

        • *2: for Triple Beam Headlight

Body Electrical > HL AutoLeveling > Utility
        Tester Display
        ECU Information Sync

Body Electrical > AFS > Utility
        Tester Display
        ECU Information Sync
      5. Check the display on the GTS and press "Next".

      6. Check that the "Headlight System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" warning message on the multi-information display continuously blinks 6 times at 2 Hz.

      7. Press "Exit" and turn the engine switch off.

        Note

After synchronizing the vehicle information, initialize the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH.

        Tech Tips

        • If the "Headlight System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" warning message on the multi-information display does not start blinking after performing step (v), perform the procedure again.

        • If the "Headlight System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" warning message on the multi-information display changes from blinking to illuminated, the rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH may be malfunctioning.

    2. When not using the GTS:

      1. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and check that "Headlight System Uninitialized Visit Your Dealer" warning message is displayed on the multi-information display.

      2. Using the headlight dimmer switch, turn the low beam headlights on and off 8 times within 20 seconds after turning the engine switch on (IG).

        Note

If the low beam headlights illuminate when the engine switch is on (IG), shine a light on the automatic light control sensor to turn the low beam headlights off before operating the headlight dimmer switch. (w/o Light Control Switch OFF Position)

        Tech Tips

If this step cannot be completed within 20 seconds, turn the engine switch off. Then, turn the engine switch on (IG) and restart the procedure.

      3. Check that the "Headlight System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" warning message on the multi-information display continuously blinks 6 times at 2 Hz.

        Tech Tips

        • If the "Headlight System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" warning message on the multi-information display does not start blinking after performing step (ii), perform the procedure again.

        • If the "Headlight System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" warning message on the multi-information display changes from blinking to illuminated, turn the engine switch off and then on (IG). If the "Headlight System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer" warning message is displayed 5 seconds or more after the engine switch was turned on (IG), the rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH may be malfunctioning.

      4. Turn the engine switch off.

        Note

After synchronizing the vehicle information, initialize the headlight ECU sub-assembly LH.
