AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM
When the light control switch is in the AUTO position, the automatic light control system detects ambient light levels and controls the low beam headlights, clearance lights, taillights and license plate lights.
LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM (for Driver Door-linked Light Auto Turn-off System)
The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the exterior lights from being accidentally left on (low beam headlights, high beam headlights, front fog lights, rear fog light, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights).
The lights that will turn off will vary according to the position of the light control switch as shown in the table below.
| Switch Condition | Outline |
|---|---|
| Light control switch in AUTO position | While the exterior lights are turned on, this control automatically turns them off when the engine switch is turned from on (IG) to off. |
| Light control switch in tail or head position | While the exterior lights are turned on, this control automatically turns off only the low beam headlights, high beam headlights and the front fog lights when the engine switch is turned from on (IG) to off. Tech Tips Taillights, clearance lights, license plate lights and rear fog light remain on. |
LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM (except Driver Door-linked Light Auto Turn-off System)
The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the exterior lights from being accidentally left on (headlights, front fog lights, rear fog light, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights).
When all of the following conditions are met, the headlights, front fog lights, rear fog light, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights turn off:
The engine switch is turned from on (IG) to off.
The headlights, front fog lights, rear fog light, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights are on.
The driver door is opened.
LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM (w/ Delay Function)
The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the exterior lights from being accidentally left on (headlights, front fog lights, taillights, clearance lights, license plate lights and side marker lights).
This system has the following functions.
| Function | Outline |
|---|---|
| Delay Function | The exterior lights automatically turn off after 30 seconds when all of the following conditions are met:
|
| Door Control Transmitter-linked Function | The exterior lights turn off immediately when the delay function is active and the following condition is met:
|
| Door Open-linked | The exterior lights automatically turn off immediately when all of the following conditions are met:
|
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM
The daytime running light system is designed to automatically illuminate the daytime running lights (high-intensity clearance lights) during the daytime to make the vehicle more visible to other vehicles.
This system is controlled by the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).
There are 2 LED type clearance light circuits in headllight. One is for a conventional low-intensity clearance light that illuminates with the taillights, and the other is for the high-intensity clearance light that is used for the DRL system.
This system is enabled when the following conditions are met:
The engine switch is on (IG).
The engine speed signal is input (engine running).
The light control switch is in the off* or AUTO position (and the taillight are not turned on via the automatic light control system).
*: w/ Light Control Switch Off Position
The parking brake switch is release.
WELCOME LIGHT ILLUMINATION CONTROL
When a wireless door unlock operation or entry door unlock operation is performed at nighttime, the clearance lights illuminate for 15 seconds.
OUTSIDE HANDLE FOOT LIGHT CONTROL
General
The outside handle foot light control consists primarily of the fade-in/fade-out/2 steps fade-out function and timer illumination function.
This control is performed by the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU). According to various information, the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) performs fade-in/fade-out/2 steps fade-out control of the outside handle foot lights.
The outside handle foot light control has the following control functions:
| Function | Outline |
|---|---|
| Actuation Area-linked | When all of the following conditions are met, the lights that operate fade-in:
|
| When the following condition is met, the lights that operate fade-out:
|
|
| Door Lock/Unlock-linked | When all of the following conditions are met, the lights that operate fade-in:
|
| When either of the following conditions is met, the lights that operate fade-out:
|
|
| Door Open/Close-linked | When either of the following conditions is met, the lights that operate fade-out:
|
| Engine Switch-linked | When the following condition is met, the lights that operate fade-out:
|
| Delay | When approximately 15 seconds elapse after any of the following conditions are met, the lights that operate fade-out:

FOLLOW ME HOME SYSTEM (w/ Follow Me Home System)
The follow me home system is designed to illuminate the low beam headlights for approximately 30 seconds after the vehicle is parked.
This system is controlled by the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).
This system is enabled when the following conditions are met:
The engine switch is off.
The light control switch is in the AUTO position.
The light control switch is pulled to flash the headlights once.
LANE CHANGE FLASHER CONTROL
This control is performed by the combination meter assembly.
When the headlight dimmer switch assembly (turn signal switch) is moved to the lane change position (it is not necessary to hold the switch) during a lane change, the turn signal light flashes a specified number of times.
While the turn signal light is flashing after the headlight dimmer switch assembly (turn signal switch) has been moved to the lane change position, the turn signal light turns off if the headlight dimmer switch assembly (turn signal switch) is moved in the opposite direction.
CORNERING LIGHT CONTROL
The cornering light control ensures ensures the visibility of the area ahead when driving around a corner by turning on the cornering light in the direction the vehicle is turning, or when reversing, by turning on both cornering lights*. The cornering lights are installed to the front bumper.
This control is performed by the headlight ECU sub-assembly.
The cornering lights operate as follows when the vehicle is being driven at 35 km/h (22 mph) or less with the low beam headlights illuminated.
When the turn signal switch is moved to the right turn position, the cornering light RH illuminates. When the turn signal switch moves to the neutral position, the cornering light RH will turn off.
When the turn signal switch is moved to the left turn position, the cornering light LH illuminates. When the turn signal switch moves to the neutral position, the cornering light LH will turn off.
When the steering wheel is turned 80 degrees or more to the right, the cornering light RH illuminates. When the steering wheel is returned to an angle 30 degrees or less, the cornering light RH will turn off.
When the steering wheel is turned 80 degrees or more to the left, the cornering light LH illuminates. When the steering wheel is returned to an angle 30 degrees or less, the cornering light LH will turn off.
When all of the following conditions are met, the cornering light LH and cornering light RH will turn on:*
The engine switch is on (IG).
The low beam headlights are illuminated.
The shift lever is in R.
*: w/ Reverse linked cornering light function
