FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM(w/ Memory) SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. FRONT POWER SEAT CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

    • The driver seat is equipped with slide, reclining, lifter, front vertical, lumbar support adjustment and cushion length* functions.

      • *: w/ Seat Variable Cushion Switch

    • The front passenger seat is equipped with slide, reclining, lifter, front vertical, lumbar support adjustment and cushion length functions.

    • The memory call function uses the key ID code of each electrical key transmitter sub-assembly to memorize and recall the appropriate driving position for each individual who possesses a master key or sub key.

  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENT

    for Driver Seat
    Component Function
Position control ECU and switch assembly (driver seat) Receives position signals from the position sensors. Outputs seat adjuster signals to the front seat adjuster assembly (driver seat) to adjust the seat accordingly.
Front seat adjuster assembly (driver seat) Slide motor Receives signals from the position control ECU and switch assembly (driver seat), and slides the seat forward and rearward.
Front vertical motor Receives signals from the position control ECU and switch assembly (driver seat), and raises and lowers the front of the seat cushion.
Lifter motor Receives signals from the position control ECU and switch assembly (driver seat), and raises and lowers the seat cushion.
Cushion length motor* Receives signals from the seat variable cushion switch (driver seat), and slide the seat cushion forward and rearward.
Position sensor Built into each motor and send position signals to the position control ECU and switch assembly (driver seat) to detect the position of the seat.
Front seatback frame sub-assembly (driver seat) Reclining motor Receives signals from the position control ECU and switch assembly (driver seat), and tilts the seatback forward and rearward.
Lumbar support adjuster assembly (driver seat) Receives signals from the front lumbar power seat switch (driver seat) and operates the built-in motor to adjust the lumbar support.
    Seat memory switch (driver door)

If the SET switch is being pressed when one of the M1, M2 or M3 seat memory switches is pressed, or if one of the M1, M2 or M3 switches is pressed within 3 seconds of pressing the SET switch, the outer mirror control ECU assembly (driver door) sends the signals so that the seat position can be stored.

Then, when a seat memory switch (driver door) is pressed, a signal is sent to the outer mirror control ECU assembly (driver door) and the seat position changes according to memory.

Front lumbar power seat switch (driver seat) Operates the motor built into the lumbar support adjuster assembly (driver seat) according to switch operation.

    • *: w/ Seat Variable Cushion Switch

    for Front Passenger Seat
    Component Function
Position control ECU and switch assembly (front passenger seat) Receives position signals from the position sensors. Outputs seat adjuster signals to the front seat adjuster assembly (front passenger seat) to adjust the seat accordingly.
Front seat adjuster assembly (front passenger seat) Slide motor Receives signals from the position control ECU and switch assembly (front passenger seat), and slides the seat forward and rearward.
Front vertical motor Receives signals from the position control ECU and switch assembly (front passenger seat), and raises and lowers the front of the seat cushion.
Lifter motor Receives signals from the position control ECU and switch assembly (front passenger seat), and raises and lowers the seat cushion.
Cushion length motor Receives signals from the seat variable cushion switch (front passenger seat), and slide the seat cushion forward and rearward.
Position sensor Built into each motor and send position signals to the position control ECU and switch assembly (front passenger seat) to detect the position of the seat.
Front seatback frame sub-assembly (front passenger seat) Reclining motor Receives signals from the position control ECU and switch assembly (front passenger seat), and tilts the seatback forward and rearward.
Lumbar support adjuster assembly (front passenger seat) Receives signals from the front lumbar power seat switch (front passenger seat) and operates the built-in motor to adjust the lumbar support.
Seat memory switch (front passenger door)

If the SET switch is being pressed when one of the M1, M2 or M3 seat memory switches is pressed, or if one of the M1, M2 or M3 switches is pressed within 3 seconds of pressing the SET switch, the outer mirror control ECU assembly (front passenger door) sends the signals so that the seat position can be stored.

Then, when a seat memory switch (front passenger door) is pressed, a signal is sent to the outer mirror control ECU assembly (front passenger door) and the seat position changes according to memory.

Front lumbar power seat switch (front passenger seat) Operates the motor built into the lumbar support adjuster assembly (front passenger seat) according to switch operation.
  3. SYSTEM OPERATION

    Tech Tips

    • The seat memory switch is a collective term for the seat memory switch (driver door) and the seat memory switch (front passenger door).

    • The outer mirror control ECU assembly is a collective term for the outer mirror control ECU assembly (driver door) and the outer mirror control ECU assembly (front passenger door).

    • The position control ECU and switch assembly is a collective term for the position control ECU and switch assembly (driver seat) and the position control ECU and switch assembly (front passenger seat).

The front power seat functions which can be operated by the power seat motors and memorized are shown below.

Seat Function Driver Seat Front Passenger Seat
Slide Power and Memory Power and Memory
Reclining Power and Memory Power and Memory
Front Vertical Power and Memory Power and Memory
Lifter Power and Memory Power and Memory
    Lumbar Support Adjustment Power Power
    Cushion Length* Power Power

    • *: w/ Seat Variable Cushion Switch

The seat memory switch sends memory switch information to the outer mirror control ECU assembly. Then the information is sent to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) via CAN communication and then an instruction to memorize the seat position is sent to the position control ECU and switch assembly via CAN communication. As a result, the seat position is memorized.
