DESCRIPTION

When the electric parking brake switch assembly is pushed to the release side, a release request signal is sent to the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly).

DTC No. Detection Item DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area Memory Note
C13A4/32 Open or Short in Release Switch Circuit

All of following conditions are met:

  1. Engine switch on (IG) or electric parking brake switch assembly pushed to release side with engine switch off.

  2. Terminal REL1 voltage is less than 1.5 V* or more than 9.4 V*; or terminal REL2 voltage is less than 1.5 V* or more than 9.4 V*

  3. Problem occurs for approximately 1 second.

Tech Tips

*: When battery voltage is 12 V

  • Electric parking brake switch assembly

  • Wire harness or connector

  • Skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly)

DTC stored An electric parking brake system malfunction is displayed on the multi-information display.
C13AC/34 Release Switch Circuit

Both of following conditions are met:

  1. Engine switch on (IG) or electric parking brake switch assembly pushed to release side with engine switch off.

  2. ON/OFF judgment of release switch 1 and release switch 2 does not match for approximately 1 second.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

  • Before disconnecting connectors or fuses, turn the engine switch off and wait 20 seconds or more.

  • When the electric parking brake switch assembly is not fully pushed and held to the release side for 1 second or more, only 1 of 2 internal contacts may contact causing a DTC to be stored. This is not a malfunction.

  • When replacing the skid control ECU (brake actuator assembly), operate the electric parking brake switch assembly, as the parking brake indicator light (red) blinks when the engine switch is first turned on (IG).
