STARTER DISASSEMBLY

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS

      *1 Wire Harness
      *a Nut
      *b Noise Filter Harness

      Remove the 2 nuts and wire harness from the starter assembly.

    2. Disconnect the noise filter harness from the repair service starter kit.

  2. REMOVE HARNESS


    1. A01RELB

      Remove the nut and disconnect the lead wire from terminal M.

    2. A01RAGZ

      Disconnect the 2 harness connectors to remove the harness.

  3. REMOVE STARTER INRUSH CURRENT REDUCTION RELAY


    1. A01RD4Z

      Remove the 2 bolts and starter inrush current reduction relay from the starter drive housing assembly.

  4. REMOVE REPAIR SERVICE STARTER KIT


    1. A01RAZ9

      While holding the repair service starter kit to the starter drive housing assembly, remove the 2 nuts.

    2. A01RAYSC01
      *a Plunger
      *b Hook
      *c Pinion Drive Lever

      While lifting the rear of the magnet switch, remove the hook from the pinion drive lever, then remove the repair service starter kit.

      Note

      Do not drop the plunger when removing the repair service starter kit.

  5. REMOVE STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY

      *1 Starter Yoke Assembly
      *2 Starter Commutator End Frame Assembly

      Using a T25 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 through bolts, and pull out the starter yoke assembly together with the starter commutator end frame assembly.

  6. REMOVE STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME ASSEMBLY

      *1 Starter Commutator End Frame Assembly
      *2 Starter Yoke Assembly
      *a Lead Wire

      Remove the 2 screws.

    2. While holding down the lead wire, remove the starter commutator end frame assembly from the starter yoke assembly.

  7. REMOVE STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY

      *a Brush Spring
      *b Brush

      Using a screwdriver, hold the brush spring back and disconnect the 4 brushes.

    2. Remove the starter brush holder assembly from the starter armature assembly.

  8. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY

      *1 Starter Yoke Assembly
      *2 Starter Armature Assembly

      Remove the starter armature assembly from the starter yoke assembly.

  9. REMOVE STARTER ARMATURE PLATE

      *1 Starter Yoke Assembly
      *2 Starter Drive Housing Assembly
      *3 Starter Armature Plate

      Remove the starter armature plate from the starter drive housing assembly or starter yoke assembly.

  10. REMOVE PLANETARY GEAR


    1. A01RCKQ

      Remove the 3 planetary gears from the starter drive housing assembly.

  11. REMOVE RUBBER SEAL


    1. A01REGU

      Remove the rubber seal from the starter drive housing assembly.
