CANISTER(w/o Canister Pump Module) REMOVAL

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during canister (charcoal canister assembly) removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (w/o Rear No. 2 Seat)

    CAUTION:

    To prevent burns, do not touch the engine, exhaust pipe or other high temperature components while the engine is hot.

      Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the tail exhaust pipe assembly from the center exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst) and No. 2 tail exhaust pipe assembly.

    2. Remove the tail exhaust pipe assembly from the 2 exhaust pipe supports.

    3. Remove the 2 exhaust pipe gaskets from the center exhaust pipe assembly (TWC: Rear Catalyst) and tail exhaust pipe assembly.

  3. REMOVE CHARCOAL CANISTER PROTECTOR

    1. Remove the 3 bolts and charcoal canister protector.

  4. REMOVE CANISTER (CHARCOAL CANISTER ASSEMBLY)

      Disengage the 2 claws of the retainer. Pull out the retainer and disconnect the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly from the canister (charcoal canister assembly).

      Note


      • Be sure to disconnect the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly by hand.

      • Do not scratch or allow any foreign matter to get on the parts when disconnecting them as the fuel tube connector has O-rings that seal the pipe.

      • Do not bend, twist, pinch or kink the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly.

      • Protect the disconnected parts by covering them with plastic bags after disconnecting the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly.

    2. Close the fuel tank vent hose sub-assembly using a hose plug or similar part.

      Type A:


      1. Slide the clip and disconnect the charcoal canister hose from the fuel tube.

      2. Slide the clip and disconnect the outlet charcoal canister tube sub-assembly from the canister (charcoal canister assembly).

      1. Slide the clip and disconnect the charcoal canister hose from the fuel tube.

      2. Slide the clip and disconnect the outlet charcoal canister tube sub-assembly from the canister (charcoal canister assembly).

      3. Disengage the clamp and disconnect the outlet charcoal canister tube sub-assembly.
