PROCEDURE
INSPECT THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY
| *a | Component without harness connected (Throttle Body with Motor Assembly) |
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
| Standard Resistance | ||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
|
If the result is not as specified, replace the throttle body with motor assembly.
INSPECT MANIFOLD THERMOSTAT
Remove the manifold thermostat.
Remove the intake manifold.
Slide the 2 hose clamps and disconnect the 2 water hoses from the manifold thermostat.
Remove the 2 nuts and manifold thermostat from the intercooler assembly.
Check the valve lift of the manifold thermostat.
Tech Tips
The valve closing temperature is inscribed on the manifold thermostat.
| *a | Paint Mark |
Insert a 5 mm hexagon wrench into the manifold thermostat and place a paint mark on the hexagon wrench to mark the edge of the inlet nozzle as shown in the illustration.
Immerse the manifold thermostat in water and then gradually heat the water.
Tech Tips
Heat the water until it is at or above the temperature at which the valve of the manual thermostat fully closes.
| *a | Paint Mark |
| *b | Valve Lift |
Insert the 5 mm hexagon wrench into the manifold thermostat again and determine the amount of valve lift as shown in the illustration.
| Standard Valve Lift |
|---|
| 2.5 to 4.5 mm (0.0984 to 0.177 in.) |
If the result is not as specified, replace the manifold thermostat.
Install the manifold thermostat.
Install the manifold thermostat to the intercooler assembly with the 2 nuts.
Connect the 2 water hoses to the manifold thermostat and slide the 2 hose clamps.
Install the intake manifold.
