REAR SPOILER REMOVAL

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE LUGGAGE LOCK CONTROL CABLE PLATE (w/ Handle)

  2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR INSIDE HANDLE (w/ Handle)

  3. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSIST GRIP

  4. REMOVE SWITCH BEZEL (w/ Power Trunk Lid System)

  5. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT DOOR COVER

  6. REMOVE REAR SPOILER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. B002CLI

      Remove the 2 nuts.

    2. B002CESC01
      B002CL1 Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape around the rear spoiler sub-assembly.

    3. Using an infrared light, heat the rear spoiler sub-assembly.

      Heating Temperature
      Item Temperature
      Vehicle Body 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
      Rear Spoiler 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

      CAUTION:


      • Do not touch the infrared light or the heated portions of the components.

      • Touching the infrared light could result in burns.

      • Touching the heated portions of the components and remaining in contact for a long time could result in burns.

      Note

      Do not heat the vehicle body or rear spoiler sub-assembly excessively.

      B002C8N Remove in this Direction

      Insert piano wire between the vehicle body and rear spoiler sub-assembly.

      Tech Tips

      Be careful of the clip and bolt positions.

    5. Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to the piano wire ends.

    6. Pull the piano wire and scrape off the double-sided tape that holds the rear spoiler sub-assembly to the vehicle body.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

    7. Disengage the clips to remove the rear spoiler sub-assembly as shown in the illustration.

    8. Remove the protective tape.
