REAR BUMPER REMOVAL

Tech Tips

If the bumper is damaged, there is a possibility that the installation area of the blind spot monitor sensor may be deformed and the blind spot monitor system may not operate correctly, so visually inspect the blind spot monitor sensor installation area (frame, stud bolt) to make sure it is not dentedor bent.

If the visual inspection finds a problem, check the installation condition of the blind spot monitor sensor, and adjust the installation position of the blind spot monitor sensor as necessary.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE NO. 1 REAR BUMPER PLATE

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.


    1. A01XRONC01
      *a Protective Tape

      Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the claws.

    2. Disengage the hook to remove the No. 1 rear bumper plate.

  2. REMOVE REAR BUMPER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01XRNZ

      Remove the 2 screws and 4 clips.

    2. A01XQ9CC01
      B002CL1 Protective Tape

      Apply protective tape around the rear bumper assembly as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

    3. A01XQ7U

      Fold back a part of edge of the rear fender liner as shown in the illustration, and remove the screw and clip.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

    4. A01XQCB

      Remove the 2 screws.

    5. A01XPVNC01
      B002C8N Remove in this Direction (1)
      B002E01 Remove in this Direction (2)

      Disengage the claws as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

    6. w/ LEXUS Parking Assist-sensor System:


      1. A01XQLFC01
        B002C8N Remove in this Direction

        Disengage the claws to separate the rear bumper assembly as shown in the illustration.

      2. Disconnect the connector to remove the rear bumper assembly.

    7. w/o LEXUS Parking Assist-sensor System:


      1. A01XQIKC01
        B002C8N Remove in this Direction

        Disengage the claws to remove the rear bumper assembly as shown in the illustration.
