FRONT DOOR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The following procedure is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE MOULDING SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Engage the clip and temporarily install the front door outside moulding sub-assembly to the door frame.

    2. Using an air riveter or a hand riveter with a nose piece, install 7 new rivets.

      Tech Tips

      If the mandrel of the rivet does not come off on the first operation of the rivet gun, slide the rivet gun forward on the mandrel and operate it again.

      Note


      • Do not pry the rivet with the riveter, as this will cause damage to the riveter and mandrel.

        Confirm that the rivets are seated properly against the vehicle body.


      • Do not tilt the riveter when installing the rivet to the vehicle body.

  2. INSTALL FRONT DOOR REAR WINDOW FRAME MOULDING

    Tech Tips

    When installing the front door rear window frame moulding, heat the door frame and front door rear window frame moulding using an infrared light.

    Heating Temperature
    Item Temperature
    Door Frame

    40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)

    3 to 5 minutes

    Front Door Rear Window Frame Moulding

    20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    1 to 2 minutes

    Note

    Do not heat the door frame and front door rear window frame moulding excessively.


    1. Clean the door frame surface.


      1. Using an infrared light, heat any adhesive remaining on the door frame.

      2. Using a piece of cloth, rub the double-sided tape off the door frame.

        Note


        • Installing the front door rear window frame moulding while old double-sided tape remains can cause adhesion failure.

        • Using a screwdriver or similar tool to remove the old tape can damage the surface and cause adhesion failure.

      3. Using a non-residue solvent, clean the attachment surface.

    2. Using an infrared light, heat the door frame and front door rear window frame moulding.

    3. Remove the peeling paper from a new front door rear window frame moulding.

      Tech Tips

      After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      Engage the guide and clip to install the front door rear window frame moulding.

      Note

      Press the front door rear window frame moulding firmly to install it.

  3. INSTALL FRONT DOOR FRONT LOWER FRAME UPPER COVER

  5. INSTALL FRONT DOOR WEATHERSTRIP


    1. Install the upper part of the front door weatherstrip.

  6. INSTALL FRONT DOOR REAR BELT MOULDING END COVER

    Tech Tips

    When installing the front door rear belt moulding end cover, heat the door frame and front door rear belt moulding end cover using an infrared light.

    Heating Temperature
    Item Temperature
    Door Frame 40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
    Front Door Rear Belt Moulding End Cover 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the door frame and front door rear belt moulding end cover excessively.

      Engage the clips to install the front door rear belt moulding end cover.

      Note

      Press the front door rear belt moulding end cover firmly to install it.

  7. INSTALL FRONT DOOR BELT MOULDING

  8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.
