LIGHTING SYSTEM Stop Light Circuit

DESCRIPTION

When the stop light switch is turned on, current flows to the stop lights to illuminate them. During emergency braking, the brake control system blinks all stop lights to alert following drivers and reduces the possibility of a rear-end collision.

  1. CHECK FOR DTC (VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM)


    1. Check for DTCs.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 2 INTEGRATION RELAY - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND)

      Disconnect the No. 2 integration relay connectors.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      2G-1 (ALT) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      2B-7 (BATT) - Body ground
      2B-8 (IG1A) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG)
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Disconnect the stop light switch connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (STOP LIGHT SWITCH - NO. 2 INTEGRATION RELAY)


    1. Disconnect the A3 stop light switch connector.

    2. Disconnect the 2A No. 2 integration relay connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      A3-2 (L) - 2A-11 (STPO) Always Below 1 Ω
      A3-2 (L) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  6. CHECK STOP LIGHT OPERATION


    1. With the skid control ECU connector disconnected, check the illumination of the stop lights when depressing the brake pedal.
