POWER TRUNK LID SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION


  1. GENERAL


    • The luggage compartment door can be opened by pressing a luggage compartment door opening switch assembly of the instrument panel, luggage electrical key switch of the rear license garnish or electrical key transmitter sub-assembly (luggage door open switch).

    • In addition, a door control switch has been provided on the inner side of the luggage compartment door. By using this switch, the luggage compartment door can be closed automatically.

    • The luggage closer motor with a luggage closer motor assembly has been installed near a luggage compartment door hinge LH. The luggage closer motor opens and closes the luggage compartment door.

    • This system is controlled by the luggage closer motor assembly.

  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Components Function
    Luggage closer motor assembly Controls the power trunk lid system in accordance with the signals received from the switches and ECUs.
    Luggage closer motor assembly (power trunk opener and closer motor) Opens and closes the luggage compartment door when actuated by the luggage closer motor assembly.
    Luggage closer motor assembly (magnetic clutch) Transmits the rotation of the closer motor to the driven gear.
    Luggage closer motor assembly (hall IC) Detects the luggage compartment door position and the opening and closing speed of the luggage compartment door.
    Luggage door closer assembly

    • The luggage door closer assembly provides both the opener and closer functions. In accordance with the signals received from the switches, the luggage door closer assembly automatically closes the luggage compartment door that is ajar to the fully closed state. This is accomplished by actuating the closer motor to push and turn the latch in order to pull the striker in.

    • Upon receiving the open signals from the switches, the system actuates the motor to disengage the latch from the link mechanism in order to free the latch. As a result, the striker disengages from the latch, enabling the luggage compartment door to open.
    Luggage door closer assembly (closer motor) Locks and unlocks the latch of the luggage door closer assembly when actuated by the luggage closer motor assembly.
    Luggage door closer assembly (striker switch, courtesy switch) Detects whether the luggage compartment door is opened or closed. This switch turns on when the luggage compartment door is opened or ajar and off when the luggage compartment door is closed.
    Luggage door closer assembly (closer motor position switch) Detects the initial (neutral) position of the driven gear of the closer motor. The switch is off when the luggage door closer assembly operates to the open side, and on when it operates to the closed side.
    Luggage door closer assembly (pawl switch) Detects the pawl switch condition.
    Luggage door closer assembly (half switch) Detects the ajar position of the latch, turns on in the open latch condition.
    Wireless door lock buzzer Sounds once when the luggage compartment door is opened using the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly.
    Luggage door opening cancel switch assembly Setting this switch to off condition prohibits open operation.
    Luggage compartment door opening switch assembly

    • Transmits a luggage compartment door open signal to luggage closer motor assembly.

    • If the luggage compartment door opening switch assembly is pressed during the opening operation, the opening operation is stopped. If pressed during the closing operation, the operation is reversed.
    Door control switch

    • Transmits a luggage compartment door close signal to luggage closer motor assembly.

    • If the luggage compartment door opener switch is pressed during the opening operation, the opening operation is stopped. If pressed during the closing operation, the operation is reversed.
    Electrical key transmitter sub-assembly (luggage door open switch) (w/ Entry Function)

    • The luggage compartment door opens when the luggage door open switch on the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is pressed outside of the vehicle.

    • If the luggage compartment door opener switch is pressed during the opening operation, the opening operation is stopped. If pressed during the closing operation, the operation is reversed.
    Luggage electrical key switch

    • When the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is held, and the luggage electrical key switch is pressed, the luggage compartment door automatically opens. (w/ Entry Function)

    • When all the doors are unlocked, the luggage compartment door can be opened by pressing the luggage electrical key switch even if the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is not being carried.

    • If the luggage electrical key switch is pressed during the opening operation, the opening operation is stopped. If pressed during the closing operation, the operation is reversed.
    Combination meter assembly The meter ECU transmits vehicle speed signal to the luggage closer motor assembly via the CAN.
    ECM The ECM transmits shift position P signal to the luggage closer motor assembly via the CAN.

      • *1: The power trunk lid operation is initiated when the luggage door opening switch of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly (electrical key), the luggage electrical key switch, or the luggage compartment door opening switch assembly is turned on.

      • *2: The clutch turns on and the closer release operation begins.

      • *3: The door motor operation begins with the half-latch switch and pawl switch turning on (the door opening operation begins).

      • *4: The closer gear end point is detected via the closer pulse and the closer operation stops.

      • *5: When the luggage compartment door opens to a certain position determined by the door pulse, the closer release return operation begins.

      • *6: When the neutral position is detected via the closer pulse, the closer release return operation stops.

      • *7: The door motor operation stops and the clutch turns off due to detection of the luggage compartment door fully open stop position via the door pulse.

      • During the opening operation, the operation stops and the luggage compartment door becomes free when the luggage door opening switch of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly(electrical key), the luggage electrical key switch, the luggage compartment door opening switch assembly, or the door control switch turns is turned on.

      • *3: The door motor operation stops and the closer motor closing operation begins when the half-latch switch turns from on to off.

      • *4: The closer close return operation begins with the pawl switch turning off. The clutch off.

      • *5: When the neutral position is detected via the closer pulse, the closer motor operation stops.

      • During the closing operation, the operation stops and the opening operation begins when the luggage door opening switch of the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly (electrical key), the luggage electrical key switch, the luggage compartment door opening switch assembly, or the door control switch is turned on.
