REAR SUNSHADE SYSTEM Only Rear Switch Cannot Operate Rear Sunshade

DESCRIPTION

The rear window shade assembly receives the rear control switch (rear sun shade switch) signals and drives its built-in motor.

Note


  • Do not remove the ground bolt of the rear window shade assembly.

  • When the rear sun shade relay is replaced with a new one, do not use the wire harness packaged together with the new rear sun shade relay.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR CONTROL SWITCH - REAR WINDOW SHADE ASSEMBLY AND BODY GROUND)


    1. Disconnect the e1 rear control switch connector.

    2. Disconnect the U25 rear window shade assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      e1-12 (ECU) - U25-5 (RSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      e1-5 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      e1-12 (ECU) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  2. CHECK REAR WINDOW SHADE ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the rear window shade assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the rear sun shade relay connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      U25-5 (RSW) - A-5 (RSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      U25-5 (RSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  3. CHECK REAR SUN SHADE RELAY

      Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      B-2 (MR) - B-1 (ME) Rear control switch (rear sun shade switch) pushed (rear sunshade lowers from fully raised position) 11 to 14 V
      B-1 (ME) - B-2 (MR) Rear control switch (rear sun shade switch) pushed (rear sunshade raises from fully lowered position) 11 to 14 V

  4. REPLACE REAR SUN SHADE RELAY


    1. Temporarily replace the rear sun shade relay with a new or normally functioning one.

    2. Check that the rear sunshade can be raised and lowered by using the rear control switch (rear sun shade switch).
