Tech Tips
Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
PROCEDURE
PRECAUTION
Note
After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.
REMOVE REAR SEAT ASSEMBLY
REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE
REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE GARNISH
REMOVE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR
Check that the engine switch is off.
Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
If this procedure is performed without disconnecting the cable from negative (-) battery terminal, the airbag may deploy even if an impact is applied only to the rear airbag sensor. Therefore, make sure that the cable from negative (-) battery terminal is disconnected before performing this procedure.
Disconnect the connector from the rear airbag sensor.
Note
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
Push the housing lock and slide the outer housing. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

Push the housing lock again and disconnect the connector.
Note
Do not push down the part (A) shown in the illustration when disconnecting.
Remove the bolt and rear airbag sensor.
Note
Loosen the bolt while holding the rear airbag sensor because the rear airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.
