CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the side airbag sensor assembly removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:


    • B002DW2

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE

  6. REMOVE SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • B002DW2

        Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • B002DNL

        If this procedure is performed without disconnecting the cable from negative (-) battery terminal, the airbag may deploy even if an impact is applied only to the side airbag sensor assembly. Therefore, make sure that the cable from negative (-) battery terminal is connected before performing this procedure.

    3. B002CUB

      Remove the bolt.

      Note

      Loosen the bolt while holding the side airbag sensor assembly because the side airbag sensor pin (stopper) is easily damaged.

    4. Disconnect the connector to remove the side airbag sensor assembly.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.


      1. Push the housing lock and slide the outer housing. (At this time, the connector cannot be disconnected yet.)

      2. Push the housing lock again and disconnect the connector.

        Note

        Do not push the connector housing part (A) when disconnecting the sensor connector.
