CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

The necessary procedures (adjustment, calibration, initialization, or registration) that must be performed after parts are removed, installed, or replaced during the curtain shield airbag assembly removal/installation are shown below.

PROCEDURE

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

    Note

    After turning the engine switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work.

  2. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING

  3. REMOVE CURTAIN SHIELD AIRBAG ASSEMBLY


    1. Check that the engine switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:


      • B002DW2

        Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      • If the airbag deploys for any reason, it may cause a serious accident.

      *b Connector Lock

      Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped in protective tape, release the airbag connector lock and disconnect the curtain shield airbag connector.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    4. Using needle nose pliers, remove the pins from the clips.

    5. Using 2 screwdrivers, disengage the claws of each clip and remove the clips from the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

    6. Remove the 4 bolts.

      Note

      The bolts must not be reused.

    7. Disengage the claws to remove the curtain shield airbag assembly.

    8. Remove the clips from the curtain shield airbag assembly.
