PROCEDURE
INSPECT INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY
Note
Perform the inspection indoors.
In DAY condition, the mirror surface becomes bright, and in NIGHT condition, the mirror surface becomes dim.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
In the conditions above, check that the system is AUTO mode (operating), the indicator light illuminates and the mirror surface is in DAY condition.
Tech Tips
For the initial settings, operation starts from AUTO mode (operating) and DAY condition.
Depending on the surroundings, the condition may change from DAY to NIGHT.

Press the mode change switch and check that the mirror surface reflection condition changes from AUTO mode (operating) to AUTO mode (not operating) and the condition becomes DAY.
Press the mode change switch and change to AUTO mode (operating).
Cover the ambient light sensor (rear surface) with your hand and shine a fluorescent light or similar onto the rear light sensor, and check that the mirror surface reflection condition changes from DAY to NIGHT condition.
Stop covering the sensor and turn off the fluorescent light, and check that the mirror surface reflection condition changes from NIGHT to DAY condition.
Note
Depending on the direction the mirror surface is facing as well as the ambient conditions, the mirror surface reflection status may not change, so adjust the direction of the mirror surface and the ambient conditions and perform the test several times.
If the result is not as specified, replace the inner rear view mirror assembly.
